So, we wish foreach of them a speedy recovery and we hope to
see you back here soon. Our first board meeting of the year was

FUN FACTS
Congratulations to Jantel Lavender andSamantha Prahalis for being named to the 2010-11 “Wade Watch” list for The State Farm Wade
Trophy, Division I Player of the Year. Thismarks the third time that Lavender has beenplaced on the Wade Watch list and the secondtime that Prahalis has received the honor. Only25 of the top NCAA Division I student-athletes
are selected to be on this annual list and in Marchof each year, a winner is chosen. The student-athlete that wins will have led her team in gamestatistics, shown leadership and character, had aneffect on her team and has demonstrated anoverall playing ability. Some regard the Wade
Trophy as the “Heisman of Women’s Basketball”.Good luck to Jantel and Sammy.
If it appears, at times, that the arena isnearly empty during an OSU Women’s Basketballgame, that’s because it is. In 20 home basketballgames in 2009-10, the attendance averaged only3,822 spectators. In fact, in the first 16 gameslast year (home and away), the attendance wasover 3000 only two times (5,236 at Duke and3,721 at home against Wisconsin). Our smallestattendance at home was 2,241 when OSUentertained California. The smallest number ofspectators that OSU played before at awaygames was the 659 at Northwestern. We alsoplayed to a “crowd” of 1,320 at Illinois.
A very interesting statistic is that whilethe home games attendance averaged only 3,822,away games attendance averaged 4,808. Thelargest attended home games were againstIndiana (6016) and Michigan State which drew11,825 fans. Away from home the Buckeyes drew8,669 at Purdue and 12,412 at Michigan State.
Maybe our games against teams likeConnecticut, Oklahoma, Virginia and LSU will helpto bring the early season attendance up.

Did you know that in 2009-10 every Big
Ten Conference team finished with at least 13wins overall and at least six Conference wins? This has never before been accomplished inconference history. Also, nine of the eleven BigTen teams participated in post season play. iThesefacts seem to suggest that all Big Ten women’sBasketball teams are getting better.
ii Many people are talking about seeing the
OSU women basketball players assisting in thegardening at the Mid Ohio Food Bank. Some saythat they really “worked as a team” with those
hoes and rakes. We thank you players, for taking an
interest in this vital Columbus community project. We especially thank you for helping those who arein need in central Ohio.
