ESL Classroom
An ESL classroom includes children that are learning the host country’s (U.S.A) language (English).
Depending on the level of the student (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) constitutes how many minutes/week they are pulled from their class for their ESL class to learn English.

Home School
Home Schooling is the education of children at home, typically by parents but sometimes by tutors, rather than in a formal setting of public or private school.
Reasons to home school include better academic test results, poor public school environment, improved character/morality development, and objections to what is taught locally in public school.

Special Education Class
The education of students with special needs in a way that addresses the students' individual differences and needs.
Common special needs include learning disability, communication challenges, emotional and behavioral disorders, physical disabilities, and developmental disabilities.

Self Contained Classroom
A self contained classroom is one in which the students share similar academic requirements. For example, all the gifted children in a school or school district will be contained in the same classroom.
Sometimes the children are all in the same grade level, but other times the classroom may contain children spanning more than one grade level.

Hospital Setting
Children hospitalized for long periods of time often study in a room designated as the hospital classroom. This is, however, one of the most restrictive environments.
The system consists of a computer terminal in the hospital, a terminal in the school classroom, and a communication system connecting the terminals through the Internet.

Residential Treatment Center
A residential treatment center is a place that takes a multi-faceted approach to addressing a multitude of problems that extend beyond the classroom and into a child's daily life with his or her family, peers, and the rest of the world.
Residential treatment centers are typically designed to house, treat, and educate children whose problems are severe enough that they require an environment that is supervised 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Inclusion Class
Inclusion classes provide students with disabilities a chance at placement in a “normal” classroom environment before putting them into a special need classroom.
Methods of instruction that benefit these students, along with their non-disabled classmates must be implemented in order to serve the needs of all involved.

One to One Teaching
Often one to one teaching will be used because it is determined that the child will require it in an I.E.P.
This is usually with a paraprofessional in the class that will receive special instruction in a class with other children.

General Education Classroom
This is a standard classroom with a groups a children that should not need any special assistance. All the students should be challenged appropriately move at a pace that most, if not all students are comfortable with.

Vocational School
This is a trade or career school. Here students are taught skills needed to perform a specific type of job.
They are mainly to teach specific job skills, which makes it a school for training, not so much education such as in many liberal arts schools.
