What is Person Centred Care? BlueCross values every client, their family and friends, staff and all other partners in their care Person-centred care is about a special and unique story, each client’s journey, past and present and the part you now play. It is about respecting and supporting choices whilst keeping the person comfortable and safe. It is about working with the client and their family, listening, learning and sharing about what is really important to them and ‘what will make their day’. Person-first is a set of principles that honour the person before the task. These practices provide the basis for: •  creating a daily life worth living •  striving to nurture the mind as well as the spirit •  promoting growth and development for all We recognise the individual capability of each of our clients and encourage them to participate in decision making. We endeavour to deliver a service that enables people receiving care to feel in control rather than controlled.

About Blue Cross Care Blue Cross owns 22 residences across Australia, offering 1400 beds for older adults requiring assisted living  BlueCross believes there is no reason why older people, under changed personal circumstances, should have to make drastic changes to their lifestyle. There is no reason why they should lose their right to either privacy or their independence. Despite the fact they may require 24-hour care, they should still enjoy a high quality of life, and live in a warm, friendly and caring environment.
