o We’ve put together 10 quick web design tips that’ll ensure

that once your visitors arrive, they become customers, instead leaving and visiting a competitor’s site

10 Quick Web Design Tips1. Make it Quick: If your site loads pretty slowly, people will click away from it. This is simply because our attention spans have become much shorter since we all started using smartphones and because we expect everything to happen almost instantaneously. Your page should take around 2 seconds to load. If it doesn’t, prepare for lots of abandoned clicks!2. Keep it Short and Sweet: You don’t need as much copy as you may think. The shorter and sweeter the better. Our attention spans are pretty short, remember? Make it concise and to the point, while ensuring that it conveys your brand message.3. Make it Easy to Get Around: If visitors land on your site and haven’t got a clue on how to navigate through it, then you’ve broken a very important rule; make your site accessible!

Without the right contrast, people may get lost, so use it to direct them. As for your colour choices, make sure that they are representing your brand.5. Make it Professional: It may sound obvious, but unfortunately, it’s not. This doesn’t mean that you have to be corporate, but your logo, your design and the overall look and feel should be similar to that, or of the same quality, as a high end competitor in the same niche as you.6. Make it Simple: The simpler your website is, the better. If it’s too complicated or if something is a bit inappropriate for your niche, leave it out. Design isn’t about overly fancy graphics, it’s about creating something that works.

Everything Should be Spelt Correctly: Even if you have built up a loyal readership, one misplayed “teh” instead of “the” and you’ll not only lose business, but you’ll lose respect too.8. Have Contact Information in Place: This will show that you’re trustworthy, that you’re willing to let others speak to you and that you’re a real business. This doesn’t mean that you have to provide a phone number; an email address or a contact form should be plenty!9. Make Sure Everything Works: If your links are broken or if they don’t work, this is another sign that you’re not maintaining your site . Test all of your links and make sure that they all go where they’re supposed to.10. Use Small Images and Sprites: If images take too long to load, it’ll become frustrating for your visitors. Use small images, and make use of sprites. Images used across more than one page, like your logo, will be then be cached.
