Topic 2: Outlook for container shipping of ag commodities from the Americas: risks and opportunities for South East AsiaBy Rolf Peters, Co-Founder and CEO, US CommoditiesHistorically, the United States has been a major source of grain-related container ship-ments to South East Asia. Recent problems of port congestion and inland logistical challenges on the US West coast are causing shipping companies and exporters to reposition assets and rethink business models, potentially causing problems for SEA buyers and importers. Going forward, the situation will grow more complex but will also present opportunities for buyers and sellers alike. Rolf Peters, CEO of US Com-modities, will explain what risks and opportunities lie ahead for consumers in South East Asia sourcing products in containers from The Americas.

Short-topic: Launch of Euronext premium milling wheat n°3 contract

Following Euronext’s announcement of the upcoming launch of its new milling Wheat futures contract, Nicholas will briefly present the new contract and share insights on the traction achieved by the n° 2 milling wheat contract since 1999.

Nicholas Kennedy started his career as an equity sales trader at Instinet in 1999 promoting electronic trading to large European Buy side customers from Paris then London before joining a Swiss Private bank and running the trading desk of their Paris office. Nicholas then moved into commod-ities in 2005 when he joined the sales team at Diapason Commodities Management, co founded by Jim Rogers, in Lausanne then in the UK where he helped open the London office. Following this commodity hedge fund experience, Nicholas moved back into trading and held senior brokerage roles in cocoa and soft commodities at ED&F Man (MCA) and UBS in London. In 2009 Nicholas joined NYSE Liffe’s Commodities Team. Following the acquisition of NYSE by ICE and the subsequent IPO of Euronext he is now based in Paris and is Director and Head of Business Development Commodities for Euronext.
