WHAT IS YOUR IMAGE OF GOD?
How do you envision God? Do you imagine
God as a loving Father or as a wrathful father?
Do you see Jesus as a teacher, brother, friend,
Savior? Do you envision the Holy Spirit as
close and personal or distant and impersonal?

Heard God Laugh,". Free copies of this

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY goes back to its early beginnings as the Church
Unity Octave in 1908 to cover the original days of the feasts of the Chair of St Peter (Jan 18) and the
Conversion of St. Paul (Jan 25). It was established by the Servant of God, Father Paul
Wattson, S'A., founder of the Society of the Atonement. The theme for this year is "Abide in my Love...You Shall Bear Much Fruit" taken from St. John's gospel Chapter 15, verses 1-17. The
theme was discerned by the Ecumenical Community of Grandchamp in Areuse,
Switzerland. The theme and documents were finalized during an international group meeting sponsored by the Vatican Pontifical Council for
Promoting Christian Unity and the International Committee of the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches in September
of 2019. This Community of Grandchamp comprises 50 sisters from different generations,
churches, countries and communities and continents, called in vocation to prayer,
reconciliation and unity in the church, the human family and the whole of creation. The
focus and scope of this Community is to remind Christians worldwide about the importance of
praying for the fruits of closer communion with our brothers and sisters in Christ and greater
solidarity with the whole of creation. This year we will have a pulpit exchange in observance of
the week of Prayer for Christian Unity on the weekend of January 23rd-24th with the United
Methodist Church’s Rev. John Lucy, Pastor. He will preach in our church and a clergy
representative from our parish will preach at the Methodist church. The prayer of Jesus at the
Last Supper was...."That all may be one". While our churches may still be divided, we are still all the children of God and all of us call upon God
as our Father in Heaven.
PLEASE NOTE
The Bottle Drive, sponsored by
Lifeteen, has now been
suspended. Please do not drop
off any empty bottles or cans
until we have our next Bottle &
Can Fundraising Drive. Thanks.

participate by joining together with thousands of Catholics across the country in prayer for a new
intention each of the nine days.

Dr. Ben Akers and Fr. Mateusz Ratajczak discuss St. Faustina Kowalska and her role of bringing the message of
Divine Mercy to the Church.
A message from Pope Francis:
Dear brothers and sisters, I offer an affectionate greeting to the people of the United States of
America, shaken by the recent siege at the Congress. I pray for those who lost their life – five – they lost it in those dramatic moments. I reiterate that violence is always self-destructive. Nothing is earned with violence and so much is lost. I exhort the government authorities and the entire population to maintain a deep sense of responsibility, in order to calm souls, to promote national reconciliation and to protect the democratic values rooted in American society. May the Immaculate Virgin, Patroness of the United States of America, help keep alive the culture of encounter, the culture of care, as the royal road to build together the common good; and I do so with all those who live in that land."

PRAYER BEFORE MASS-Almighty ever-living God, who govern all things, both in heaven and on earth, mercifully hear the pleading of your people and bestow your peace on our times. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. AMEN
A TIP OF THE HAT to Ted
George of our maintenance
staff who recently polished
the floors under the pews in
our worship area. They are
so shiny you can almost see your face in them.
We are most grateful to all our maintenance staff
for the wonderful job they have been doing to
keep our building neat and clean....Brian
Amedy, Sherry Jovan...Nick Tagg....with
occasional assists from Dave Wilson and Rick
Banach.....and of course, our wonderful Parish
overseer, Nelson Sleeper. Our deepest thanks to
all of them.
The very moment I call to you for a
Father’s help the tide of the battle turns
and my enemies flee. The one thing I
know: God is on my side.” This Psalm stood
true in biblical times, and it proves true in
this day as well. Though there is great fear
surrounding the threat of disease, we can
rest assured that we have a Father in
Heaven who is with us in all things. This
truth is true especially today with the
spread of the coronavirus.
