SOIS Area Report - Current Working Groups

The SOIS area covers onboard communication services with the intention of standardising H/W and S/W interfaces between avionics elements & devices.

Wireless activities cover intra-spacecraft communication, AIV and RFID

Our work is aligned with the European SAVOIR initiative and the WG includes representatives from the US SUMO initiative

Progress • Results of exploratory prototyping of EDS XML schemas by ESA and NASA available• 2 draft schema available• 2 prototype tool chains developed to support use of EDS XML schema• Draft Red Book for Dictionary of terms available for WG review• Consolidated SUMO, NASA-JSC and NASA-GRC contributions and developed shared work plan• Identified need for a new green book to describe use of EDS XML schema• Identified need to agree approach for interoperability testing of EDS XML schema

Working Group Status:• Group did not formally meet but have been operating via Webex• Green book issue 2 covering high rate Wireless technology submitted to CCSDS secretariat• New work items proposed by NASA JSC (Encoding for RFID, Spacesuit comms)
