Why Faculty and Staff Housing on GSAB and D.H. •Academic and Social Vibrancyisenhancedbyhavingacriticalmassofuniversitycommunitymembersresidingintheareayear-around.

•Financial Support for Academic ProgramsisprovidedfromanequivalentamountofnewmarketleaseholdhousinginWesbrookPlace(southcampus),whichwillbebuiltinplaceoffaculty-staffrentalhousing.RevenuefromtheWesbrookPlacemarkethousingprovidesa$57.3mcontributiontotheEndowmentFund,whichinturnisusedtofinancealoantoupgradetheLifeScienceTeachingLabs(atMainMallandUniversityBoulevard).

•Housing Optionsareincreasedforfacultyandstaffwhomaywantamorevibrant,urbanuniversitylivingexperienceandproximitytotransit.

Your ideas and feedback from Phase 1 of the public consultation, in combination with further design analysis, will be used to refine design strategies for the precinct.

• Phase2ofthepublic consultationwillbetakingplacein early April whereyouwillhavetheopportunitytoreviewtheemergingdraftdesignsandconceptsfortheprecinct.

• TheresultsoftheconsultationwillbepresentedtotheUBC Board of Governors inJune 2015alongwiththedesignrecommendationsfortheirapproval(withtheexceptionoftheWesbrookMallredesignconcept,whichdoesnotrequireBoardapprovalforimplementation).

• FollowingBoardapproval,projectplanswillbefurtherrefinedandsubjecttothedevelopmentpermitprocess,asapplicable.Thismayincludeupdatestouniversityplansandpoliciesforthearea.
