THERE IS A WAY

I am BLIND, Please Help.

A blind beggar boy sat on the steps of a commercial complex on a sunny bright morning with a container before him to collect a few coins put into it by the passers-by.

To gain sympathy he held up a placard which said:

3

A nearby shopkeeper in the complex who observed that the boy was collecting only a very few coins took pity on the blind boy and dropped a few coins in the container.

He then took the placard, read it, turned it around, and wrote some words on it.

He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by will see the new words written by him. He then went back to his shop. The blind boy could sense that the man wrote something on his placard.

The boy recognized his footsteps and asked,”Were you the one who changed my writing on the placard this morning? What did you write?”

That evening the shopkeeper who had changed the writing on the placard came to see how things were.

7

The man said,

“I only wrote the truth.

I said the same thing as you said but in a way.”

What he had written was:

"Today is a day and I can’t see it."

Do you think the first placard and the second placard were saying the same thing?

Of course both signs told people theboy was blind.

10

But the first sign simply told people to help by putting some money in the container.

The second sign told people that they were able to enjoy the beauty of the day, while the boy could not enjoy it because he was blind.

11

Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

12

There are at least two lessons we can learn from this simple story.

Page 13: 1 THERE IS A WAY. 2 I am BLIND, Please Help. A blind beggar boy sat on the steps of a commercial complex on a sunny bright morning with a container before

13

The first is,

“Be thankful for what you have. Someone else has less.

Help where you can.”

Page 14: 1 THERE IS A WAY. 2 I am BLIND, Please Help. A blind beggar boy sat on the steps of a commercial complex on a sunny bright morning with a container before

The second is,

“Be Creative .

Be Innovative .

Think Differently.

There Is Always A BETTER Way!”
