What are Panels and How Do They Work

o Owner/creator of a panel can o Read (see the panel)o Add and remove patients and o Delete or rename the panel and o Grant access to others to use the panel
o A panel can beo a list of patients with appointments in Epic for a specific
provider, o a list of patients with a specific diagnosis, o your inpatient scratch census can display as a panelo a list you create on the fly by adding patients individually

Create a Panel
To create a panel, click on panels from Pt list or from white tab 1

Select “create panel” and lower frame will load 2

Name the panel and click ok
The panel will now appear

To Add Individual Patient to a Panel Easily: Customize Your Actions Menu
Click on Actions menu and select “Customize” 1
Click on “Install new Actions” 3
Click on “add to panel” and *remove*

Click on the Actions menu and select “Add to Panel”

Select the panel you just created to add the patient

Auto-Copy Features
Allows user to manage which panels get updated
Auto updates every few hours

How to Auto-copy Between PanelsSelect Panel tab

Click on “Automatically copy patients between panels”2
Select the scratch census to auto-copy to the panel you created

How to Stop Auto-copy
The line will disappear once completed
Click on “Automatically copy patients between panels”

Select blue link “stop auto-copy” on the panels you want to stop this function

Manage Access to Panels How to Grant Access to a Panel
Click on the Panel that you created 1
Enter by last name Check boxes for specific AccessClick OK to grant access

Will receive confirmation screen 3

Click on the Panel you just created and select the “Remove granted access” option
Search by user ID, click OK, and select “Revoke access”

HEO/WIZ Scratch Census and StarPanel
Users can:Set up their scratch census or secondary scratch in HEO/WIZ and see it as a panel in StarPanel
Still access same panel features as any other panel

A Quick Review of Inpatient Scratch Census
First link to a census by selecting “Modify census” from Wiz/HEO

Then, link to a census

First switch to secondary scratch census by selecting “Modify Census” from WIZ/HEO

Click on Scratch census in black bar and select “Show your secondary scratch census”
