Enhanced Safe Management Measures in the School In view of the COVID-19 situation, we will implement enhanced safe management measures in the school. Monitoring of Staff and Students’ Well-being

Daily temperature-taking at the start of each day, with additional visual and question screening will continue to be carried out for all students and staff.

Students and staff who are unwell, or who have adult household members on Home Quarantine Order / Stay Home Notice or have flu-like symptoms such as fever and cough and are on Medical Leave (MC), will be required to stay away from school. They will be placed on Approved Absence (AA) for the duration of the household member’s MC.

Students and staff should wash their hands with soap or use the hand sanitisers upon arrival in school.

Students and staff are required to wear their masks or face shields at all times.

Within Form Classroom

There will be fixed exam-style seating in the classrooms, at least 1m between students.

Students will practise frequent hand-washing throughout the school day and wipe-down routine before every lesson. Classrooms are equipped with hand sanitizers for students and staff to use.

High-touch surfaces will be cleaned more frequently and the premises will be disinfected daily.

At Other Venues In addition to the practices in 2.2 above, at other venues,

students will practise wipe down of surfaces and shared equipment before lesson and after use.

there will be designated seating arrangement.

2.4

2.5

School Activities and Common Areas

There will be continued suspension of mass events such as assemblies.

Intermingling across classes and levels is disallowed.

Strict Safe Distancing Measures are in place e.g. designated seating arrangement in the canteen; limit in number of students in toilets.

Students will be reminded to wash their hands with soap before and after recess, and wipe down surfaces after use.

Dismissal and Movement of Students

Recess and dismissal timings will be staggered to reduce congestion.

Students are reminded not to loiter before and after school. They should come straight from home and go directly home after school.

There will be no external activities held outside of school

3 Back to School Special Programme To help students to ease back into the school routine after full Home-Based Learning in April and the May holidays, the teachers will be conducting the “Back to School #StrongerTogether” programme in the subsequent weeks. This is to help students to reflect on the changes and challenges faced in the past 2 months, understand the transition to our current reality and develop their resilience to look to the future with optimism and hope. The enhanced Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) lessons and routines will cover personal hygiene and proper mask wearing.

Academic Programme School Rotation for Non-Graduating Students While the graduating students have returned to the school for lessons with the easing of Circuit

Breaker measures, the non-graduating students will return on a weekly rotation basis

between school and Home-based Learning (HBL) for Term 3 Weeks 1 to 4. Schools will

be updated in due course on the mode for school operations for Week 5 onwards, in tandem

with the national posture. Please refer to the following table for the Weekly Rotation Schedule

for Secondary Schools.

Timetable Matters The Semester 2 timetable was uploaded onto the school website on 29 May (Fri). There are changes made to the timetable to provide sufficient time for students to catch up on their learning and ensure the well-being of students.

Reporting time for school is 7.30 am for all days. Students will report directly to their classrooms for morning assembly.

4.3

Students must continue to bring their personal thermometers to school as temperature-taking will be conducted in the morning and again in the afternoon if the students are staying back for afternoon programmes.

Recess and dismissal timings will continue to be staggered. There will be no lunch break for the students but they can bring their own dry snacks and ask for permission to eat discreetly in class from 12.30 – 12.45 pm

Afternoon Remedial Programme Remedial programme has been planned for all the Sec 4 and 5 students and is reflected in their school timetable. This is a platform for students to revise their work with the teachers, and to close their learning gaps. The programme will begin in Term 3 Week 2 for small groups of students. Remedial programme for Sec 3 students will begin in Term 3 Week 5 onwards.

5 School attire Students are allowed to wear the school polo T-shirt from Monday to Friday. CCA T-shirts are allowed on Tuesdays while class T-shirts are allowed on Fridays only. Students may report to school in PE attire (polo T-shirt and shorts) from the start of the day if they have PE Lessons on that day. Students may continue to stay in the same attire throughout the day. This arrangement will reduce the need for students to visit the toilets to change in and out of their PE attire, thus reducing movement and intermingling among students.

Physical Education Lessons (PE) & Co-Curriculum Activities (CCA) Matters

CCA Update

In view of the COVID-19 situation, all CCA will continue to be suspended in Term 3. Some of

our trainers and coaches are making plans to conduct selected CCA in the form of online

learning. More details will be shared with the students and parents at a later date.

PE lessons

PE lessons will resume in Term 3. The lessons will be conducted in line with the following

safety guidelines.

Teachers and students need not wear a mask when they are engaged in physical

activities, but they would adhere to the safe-distancing measures, following the

national posture for exercising.

Students will need to bring their own zip lock / re-sealable bag (labelled with their name

and class) to safe-keep their mask during lessons. The bag is also useful for students

8.3

to keep their mask when they are eating during recess. The school book shop also

sells zip lock bags at $1 per piece.

Lessons will be conducted within individual classes, and there will not be any

intermingling with students from another class at all times.

Lessons will be conducted in open and well-ventilated areas (i.e. School Field, Indoor

Sports Hall, Basketball Court, Multipurpose Hall) and students will not be sharing PE

equipment.

Teacher will supervise students in practising personal responsibility and good hygiene

habits by disinfecting their own PE equipment at the end of the lesson.

Students will wash their hands before collecting their belongings and wear their masks

before dismissal from lesson.

National School Games (NSG)

All NSG competitions for 2020 are cancelled as there is insufficient time to complete the

season within the school calendar.

9

Meridian Lighthouse Programme (MLP) The Meridian Lighthouse Programme is specially planned for various groups of students to build character through meaningful hands-on activities and positive experiences. In Term 1, students underwent a series of fun and engaging sessions. However, since the start of Term 2, due to the COVID-19 situation, after-school programmes like MLP were suspended to increase social distancing and reduce inter-mingling amongst students. We are pleased to share that MLP may continue in Term 3 in smaller groups with safe management measures in place. The focus of MLP activities will be strengthening students’ social-emotional well-being and connectedness to teachers and peers. MLP teachers will be providing you details of activities soon.

10

Administration and Operation Matters National School-based Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Programme for Female Students HPV vaccination has been offered as a school-based programme for female students since 2019, and it is free of charge. The HPV vaccine helps to protect against cervical cancer which is caused by HPV infection, and is recommended for females aged between 9 – 26 years. In Singapore, cervical cancer is the 10th most common cancer and 8th most common cause of cancer deaths among women. As a ministry-wide programme, Health Promotion Board (HPB) will carry out the vaccination in stages across schools. For our school, the tentative date for the Vaccination Exercise will take place on 20 – 21 Aug 2020 in the Auditorium during school hours. More information will be given to your child/ward nearer the date.

11

Principal Meets Parents (PMP) Sessions The school will be arranging online Principal Meets Parents (PMP) sessions for parents of Sec 2, 4 & 5 students. Information on the registration for the online sessions will be given via the Parents Gateway (PG). A link for parents to ask questions will also be provided. Details of the online sessions are stated below.

Date Level Time

4 Jun 2020, Thursday Sec 4 and 5 6 – 7 pm

24 Jun 2020, Wednesday Sec 2 6 – 7 pm

For all parents of sec 1 and 3 students, information on curriculum and co-curriculum matters will also be uploaded on PG by the first week of school.

12 Road Safety Matters For the safety of our students and other road users, we would like to remind parents who drive their children to school not to stop their vehicles directly in front of the school gates or too close to the traffic light. You may let your child alight at the HDB carparks opposite the school. As part of safety management measures, parents may drop off their children strictly at the porch only. Driver or other passengers may not alight from the car. Please follow the directions given by the security guards/staff and do slow down your vehicle within school compounds. The school had also uploaded a Road Safety Advisory on Parents Gateway earlier in Term 2. We thank you for your kind understanding and support in making our school a safe place for your child and others.
