A compound is a pure substance composed of two or more elements chemically combined in a specific proportion.

Reading Compounds A formula tells you how many atoms
of each element are in the compound and what elements are in the compound.
For example, CO₂ Carbon Dioxide has 1 atom of the element Carbon (C) and 2 atoms of the element Oxygen (O)
A compound will always have two or more capital letters in the formula.
