The First Industrial Revolution

The first Industrial Revolution took place between about 1750 and 1870 Took place in England, the United States,

Belgium, and France Saw fundamental changes in agriculture, the

development of factories, and rural-to-urban migration

Textiles, iron, & coal were most important Water, coal, and steam powered industry Size & number of goods produced by

companies were fairly small

as Germany, Japan, and Russia Steel, chemicals, electricity, & petroleum were the most

power for factories, farms, and homes Mass production, particularly of consumer goods Use of electrical power saw electronics enter the

marketplace (electric lights, radios, fans, television sets) Corporations & number of goods produced became much
