AMOK Based on the true story of Krystian Bala, an ambitious novelist who becomes the central suspect of a police cold case after it's discovered his book "Amok" includes eerie details of a brutal murder. With his suspect in sight, Inspector Jacek Sokolski takes on the cold case and soon discovers that with no motive, and very little evidence except for the book, separating what is real from what is fictional becomes his biggest challenge when he enters the twisted and clever mind of Krystian Bala.

Character Breakdown Krystian Bala -‐ a young novelist inspired by literary theory and post modern philosophy, he delights in blending facts with fiction for his newest novel "Amok". Lost and cut off from his family, and now hunted by police, he goes to the darkest depths to get them back while trying to prove his innocence. The Inspector Jack Sokolski nicknamed "Eagle Eye" for his ability to close difficult cold cases, the veteran inspector of the Wroclaw police lives in a world of black and white, wrong and right, facts versus fiction. But now his newest case is the most challenging yet, where fact meets fiction, and the two are not always as they seem.
Synopsis A dead body drifts down a river for days, unnoticed. Fishermen discover it bound in rope, mutilated and tortured. The sensational story is broadcast on the local news. Krzys Bala (4) watches in rapt interest. His mother Zosia Bala (25) pulls him away from the TV. Upstairs, Krystian Bala (25), a young aspiring novelist and philosophy student, tries to kill a girl in his bedroom using a rope and a knife. His wife Zosia interrupts the murder--which we realize was all in his imagination. It is a murder scene from a novel he’s writing called “Amok”. At dinner Krystian’s father Stanislaw asks about the writing and gets a generic answer. Krystian’s attention is grabbed by the murder story on TV. During a philosophy lecture at his university, Krystian highlights articles about the murder victim – Mariusz Roszewski. He calls the local police to ask if there are any new leads. At home, Zosia discovers that Krystian’s writing room is covered from floor to ceiling with photos of Mariusz, articles about the case, and grisly crime scene photos. References for his book.
Four years later the Wroclaw Police Department receives an anonymous 7p that Mariusz’s killer is the author of the self-‐published a book called “Amok”. In it are all the clues to solving the murder. Inspector Jacek Sokolski (47), hired by the Wroclaw PD, takes the cold case as his first assignment. He searches the bookstore for a copy of “Amok” but it’s unavailable. He finds the book’s website, and scheduled live appearances by the author. Krys7an (30) reads a passage from “Amok” at a local bookstore. ARerwards Jack has him sign six copies of the book and men7ons Mariusz, giving Krys7an interest to talk to him. They get drinks. Krys7an reveals he knows a great deal about Mariusz’s case because he was once obsessed with it and used it as inspira7on. Krys7an agrees to help Jack solve the case sharing all the informa7on he gathered about the murder.
In the final scene Krys7an receives a bulk of leUers from fans around the world. He reads a leUer from Jacek, who believes he is really the one in prison. In the leUer is an image of an eye -‐-‐ the eye of God -‐-‐ the eye of perpetual guilt -‐-‐ the eye that will always watch him.
Inspector Sokolski “Somebody said, gaze into the abyss long enough and the abyss gazes back into you. But he was not Police. You know what I learned? If you gaze into the abyss long enough, YOUR EYES WILL ADJUST .”
