TELEPHONE CABLE WITH POLY-AL MOISTURE BARRIER

Sub-clause no. 26.2 is replaced with following (its further sub-clauses 26.2.1 to 26.2.4 remaining intact) and new Sub-clause nos.26.3 & 26.4 added -

26.2 Type Tests: The following shall constitute typ~ testsand shall be carried out once in three years or earlier at thediscretion of the inspecting authority.

26.3 Sampling plan for type tests:

26.3.1 For Initial Type Testing in case of new manufacturer twocable drums each of different conductor dia and differentpairs comprising of one of size 10 pairs or 50 pairs andanother of size 20 pairs or 100 pairs shall be gotmanufactured. No failure is acceptable during type testing.Detailed sampling plan for individual (type) tests is given atTable-9.

Validity of Initial Type Approval shall be for a periodof two years.

26.3.2 For Maintenance Type Testing in case of already approvedmanufacturer only one cable drum of any conductor dia and anysize cable from regular railway supply order lot shall betaken in statistically random manner. No failure is acceptableduring type testing.

Validity of such Maintenance Type Approval shall be fora period of three years.

However if no railway supply order exists with the firm,one drum of any type of cable of any conductor dia and anysize shall be got manufactured specially for the MaintenanceType Testing and validity of such Maintenance Type Approvalshall be for a period of two years.

The detailed sampling plan for type tests at Table-9stands suitably modified to mean only the type of cable so

26.4: Sources of Raw Materials/components.

26.4.1 The sources of following raw materials/components shallbe approved based on type testing and shall be indicated inType Approval Certificate. \

.~-.26.4.2 If subsequently the source of any raw material is

required to be changed or a di-fferent alternati ve componentpermissible under the specification is required to be used dueto any reason, partial- type test on the changed raw

Vide above referred letter, amendment no. 2 of thespecification no. IRS-:TC 41-97 was circultated. It was statedthere-in that the amendment shall take immediate effect. Inpartial modifications to this, it is hereby stipulated that theportion of the amenQment related to sub-clause no. 25.8regarding attenuation shall be effective from 01.10.2008-instead of being immediately effective.

However all other clauses/sub-clauses of the amendment no.2 may remain effective with immediate effect only as per theoriginal stipulation.
