The basic idea is...
Create a physical/virtual space Where people could meet and discuss subjects related to technologies for cognitive
and/or physical disabilities
A place where people with disabilities would interact with others,
Where parents and professionals would interchange ideas, experiences and feelings,
Where technologies and procedures would be assessed in real settings, and
Where researchers would try new ideas out.
3
The basic problems are...
Lack of direct interpersonal interactions involving people with cognitive disabilities
Lack of a place where people (relatives, professionals, the disabled themselves and others) can acquire information, have access, discuss, test and propose ideas related to technologies for people with cognitive disabilities
Lack of a place where researchers could test new ideas (both in terms of social environments and of tools) in situations close to reality and acquire experiences related to inclusion and to people with cognitive and/or physical disabilities
4
Audience
People with cognitive/physical disabilities Generally people with Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy,
autism, … at different severity levels and with or without physical disabilities.
Parents and relatives of these people Professionals who work with them Researchers, graduate and undergraduate (URAP)
students Other (companies, associations, etc. that could offer
support, …)
5
Practices to be supported
Research into usability, and usefulness Integration
Horizontally with companies and other research communities Vertically across populations (undergraduates to practitioners to
users)
Outreach Expose technology (ours and others) to real users Developing and sharing expertise on technology Cultivating communities: experience exchange, advice, ...
Assessment
Collaborate and add value to existing initiatives

Discuss what each one of us think…
Write down proposalsFor the overall ideaFor specific projects
Does this idea make sense?

FrameworkHuman aspects
What is the basic problem we are trying to solve?
What are the practices/settings/roles to be supported?
Who is our target public?
What kind of interventions we are going to do?
Materials to be developed (books, signs, video tapes, ...)
Technological aspects
What kind of tools already exist? Need to be developed? How can technology contribute to the problem solution?
Assessment aspects
Deliverables
Measurable impact
Management aspectsWho is responsible for what?
What are the milestones/deadlines?
Communication among the project participants
Resources (where we work, what we use, have and consume)
How many people we need? Of what kind?
