Why In News- International Literacy Day was observed on September 8, 2021.

The theme of World Literacy Day 2021 is “Literacy for a human-centered recovery: Narrowing the digital divide”. UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 1966 designated September 8 as the World Literacy Day which was to be observed on a global scale.

Why In News- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the Delegation of Financial Powers to Defence Services (DFPDS) 2021.

The Delegation of Financial Powers to Defence Services aims to provide enhanced delegation of revenue procurement powers to the Armed Forces, informed the Defence ministry. The last such enhancement of powers was done for the Defence Services in 2016. DFPDS 2021 will provide enhanced impetus towards ease of doing business and jointness among the services right up to the grassroots level.

Why In News- The government has appointed Harsha Bhupendra Bangari as the new Managing Director (MD) of the Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank).

Before this Bangari was posted as deputy managing director at EXIM Bank. She has been appointed for a period of 3 years or until further orders of the government. He will replace the incumbent MD David Rasquinha, who was appointed for 5 years on July 20, 2014.

Why In News- Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft of India has completed more than 9,000 orbits around the Moon.

Lunar Science Workshop 2021 is a 2-day workshop, organized by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). According to Chairman of ISRO, K Sivan, Chandrayaan-2 comprises of 8 payloads and are conducting remote sensing and in-situ observations of the Moon at 100 km altitude from the lunar surface.

It is the second lunar exploration mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), after Chandrayaan-1. Chandrayaan-2 was launched to the Moon on July 22, 2019 by a GSLV Mark III-M1. It reached to the Moon’s orbit on August 20, 2019. It started the orbital positioning manoeuvres to land the Vikram lander.

India will host the 16th Assembly of ASOSAI in 2024. The 56th governing board of ASOSAI elected G C Murmu and approval conveyed by the 15th Assembly of ASOSAI. SAI India has trained 6,183 auditors across the world.

Why In News- According to a new red list by IUCN, world’s sharks and rays have been witnessing declines in their populations since 2014 and are now threatened with extinction.

It notes that, there are signs of hope as fishing quotas have allowed several tuna species to be put on their path to recovery. About 37% of sharks and rays across the world are considered endangered as of 2021. In 2014, this amounted to 33%.

Business Blasters programme will become a basis of India’s progress. Thorough this programme, students will not run after jobs, but jobs will come to them. Note: Bollywood actor Sonu Sood will be the brand ambassador for Delhi government’s “Desh ke Mentor” programme.

It will be implemented across all the Delhi government schools under the “Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum”. Under the programme, class 11 and 12 students will be provided seed money of Rs 2,000 to start their business.

Why In News- President Ram Nath Kovind has awarded the President’s Colour to the Indian Naval Aviation at a ceremonial parade held at the INS Hansa base near Panjim in Goa.

The president was given the guard of honour by the Indian Navy on the occasion. The Indian Navy was the first amongst the Indian Armed Forces to be awarded the President’s Colour on 27 May 1951 by Dr Rajendra Prasad, the then President of India.
