The Flintstones is a comedic cartoon which focuses on the life of Fred Flintstone, a working class stone age man and his family and neighbor, who is also his best friend. His wife, Wilma and infant daughter Pebbles live under his roof, along.with his pet dinosaur Dino. The neighbors of the Flintstones Home are the Rubble’s. This includes Barney, Fred’s best friend, his wife Betty and their son Bam-Bam. I enjoy the show and often dread advertisements, even for a brand new 1964 Mustang. I think the shows gags are amusing and hope the show will go on for years to come.

The Vietnam War:This Author’s Opinion

Soldiers and choppers heading toward death

The Vietnam War, which has now been a 9 year headache for everyone involved, has been escalated do to President Johnson insisting that we fight the spread of communism. In my opinion, if we really want to fight the spread ofcommunism, we should look close. As in 90 miles from the coast of Florida close. Cuba has been a communist country since its revolution in 1959, and we seem to be doing little about it, with the exception of the international embarrassment of the failed Bay of Pigs invasion 4 years ago. Back to Vietnam, countless soldiers are being killed because of political drama. I say let North Vietnam have the swamp that is South Vietnam, so we can bring back family and friends who were unjustly drafted. Hope after the war ends, if it does, we will learn our lesson and never again occupy a country that is doomed fail.

At the Academy Awards: Peter O’Toole

The actor Peter O’Toole was recently nominated for best actor for his role in the critically acclaimed picture, “Becket “. Peter was born on August 2, 1932 in Britain. He was evacuated from the country during ww2. Even he doesn’t remember where, but he remembers he went to a Catholic school . After graduating, he started acting in plays and slowly worked his way to movies. He was not the only one to be nominated for a role in “Becket”. Richard Burton and John Gielgud were nominated as well, but like O’Toole, they did not win

President JohnsonPresident Johnson was born on August 24, 1908 in Stonewall, Texas. He assumed the role of our President after the tragic assassination of John F. Kennedy. So far, we here at The Yearly Journal applaud his efforts at Civil Rights, Medicaid, environmental protection, aid to education, and his “War on Poverty”. However, we also believe that The US should pull out of Vietnam. President Johnson has done the exact opposite of this. He has increased the number of troops in Vietnam by a significant margin. Despite Vietnam, people of The US enjoy Johnson’s Domestic policy and generally he is generally viewed favorably.

Letter From the ReadersLast week we asked our younger readers what it is like to been a teen in 1964. This is the best letter we received.

Dear The Yearly Journal,My name is Dave Michaels and I am responding to your request for a teen to write what is it like for teen’s nowadays. Let me tell you it is much stranger than living in the 50’s. My dad is off to Vietnam and my mom hangs out with these weird people who always have cheeto dust on his face. She says all kind of weird stuff and
