DESCRIPTION
Zege architects architectural design office was founded by Tasos Zeppos and Eleni Georgiadi in 1981. After collaborating closely for over 20 years, the two architects created Zege architects, which comprises architects, interior designers, landscape architects, draftsmen and executive employees. Several freelance professionals (civil, mechanical, lighting and acoustical engineers, agriculturalists, etc) often join Zege architects’ team to deal with the specific requirements of a project. The wide range of Zege architects’ activities includes architectural, interior design and furnishing studies, landscape designs, tender packages-detail drawings and site monitoring. The specific natural, historical and architectural context of a project is always taken into account, resulting in constructions that respect the architectural traditions of a place, the environment and the landscape. In constant dialogue with the client, Zege architects views the design and construction process as a whole and suggests solutions distinguished by high aesthetics, strong identity and functionality. The special needs and requirements of the end-user are in the core of Zege architects’ philosophy and shape the way each project is conceptualised, designed and implemented. New trends and developments in contemporary architecture are creatively incorporated and innovative technologies are used to produce the company’s distinct style and fulfill people’s wishes. For Zege architects, Leonardo da Vinci’s saying “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication” is the key to contemporary well-being and finds its perfect expression in their work. Tasos Zeppos was born in Zakynthos in 1951. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Turin in 1980 and has been a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece(TEE)since1982. Eleni Georgiadi was born in Athens in 1957. THE MET HOTEL Thessaloniki
The port of Thessaloniki has been given a new life by a 5-star hotel for visitors that adore refined aesthetics and contemporary art.
Entirely designed by Zege, The Met Hotel of the Chandris Group is in a dialogue with its context: wavy surfaces challenge the standard hotel typology; the view of the cranes in the port shapes the experience in the rooms.
White and black marble, wood and glass create elegant contrasts and discretely demark the different areas in an environment that calls for exploration.

ARKTIKA HOTEL Murmansk, Russia
Strict urban style and cozy corners are the elements combined by Zege in redesigning part of the Arktika hotel – the
most recognisable building of Murmansk.
After many years, the old Arktika will open its doors with a different character, hosting shops, offices and other functions. Zege will transform its public spaces such as the lobby, the bar-café, the restaurant, the conference halls, the corridors. Arktika will assume Zege’s style and aesthetics and is expected to become a point of reference for the international commercial world.

RIVA MOTEL Como, Italy
With its special form and logic, the Albergo
Motel Riva will become a landmark in the
famous region of the Como Lake.
The main building develops along the
street and forms a crooked line: In its
parallel part, a motel with a separate
entrance to each room is ideal for visitors
seeking complete privacy; in its diagonal
part, a modern hotel offers a more
conventional experience of hospitality.
Also visible from the street, a second
building hosts a restaurant and a
conference hall. Rough concrete and
cedar wood dominate the facades of the
buildings.

ATTICA PARK AQUARIUM Spata, Athens Suburbs
The form of the aquarium is inspired
by the structure of cells, with irregular
shapes that create a feeling
of continuous transformation.
A ramp connects the two buildings to
the surrounding space like a tissue,
unifying the main components of
the design into a fluid whole.
Covered in panels of ice-white
titanium and with narrow openings
like slots, the building looks
impenetrable and imposing as a
cave, stimulating visitors’ curiosity
and feeling of adventure.
Conceptual design: 2010
Built area: 8.400 m2

CULTURAL CENTER Kavouri, Athens Suburbs
The competition required a new
space for cultural events,
designed to sit in harmony
with the natural surrounding
landscape and destined to
draw hundreds of visitors.
The building is divided by
a stained-glass atrium on the
entry and circulation axis, letting
natural light in the heart of
the interior as well as capturing
heat in the pale sunshine hours.
The enclosed event space
emerges from the natural slope
and floats on a water bed, starting
a subtle play of texture and light
reflections on its façade.

HOTEL LIESMA – “THE SOUND OF FUNNELS” Jurmala, Latvia
The proposed scheme is inspired by
the sound funnel and the transmitting
of sound waves.
The building sits on the site like
a prism, absorbing the forest, the sea
and the city sounds. Resembling
a spatial and acoustic installation,
This music hotel captivates and
transforms everyday life into
a musical experience. It works as
a device, absorbing information and
experience that are located in the
surrounding environment, capturing
emotions that are choreographed and
again resent.
The proposed scheme for Hotel
Liesma is a building complex that
is divided in three separate volumes.
