Our customers the specialists in construction

All around the world, living and working spaces, infrastructure and industrial buildings as well as cultural sites are being created which improve the quality of life along with adding value. For their realization and maintenance, workers on the construction sites are often exposed to the most difficult conditions. At the same time, they bear a huge responsibility for the reliability, quality and safety during the exe-cution.

It is thanks to their experience and hard work that projects are realized under considerable time and cost pressures in accordance with the requirements of the clients. We at PERI support them on the construction site globally and individually.

The Management Board of PERI GmbH: Alexander Schwrer, Christian Schwrer and Dr.-Ing. Ekkehard Gericke

    Dear Readers,

The world of business is moving faster and faster all the time with both decision and execution times becoming even shorter, resulting in more complex requirements from our customers. We take this into account: for example, through the founding of new companies in numerous countries for even more proximity to the customer, with modernized and expanded production facilities for the best technology or investment in efficiently run rental parks in order to ensure good material availability at short notice.

These organizational aspects and constantly changing requirements of our customers drive us for-ward, to continuously develop new systems or system enhancements as well as relevant services with the aim of further optimizing all of our formwork and scaffolding processes. In the process, we always strive to provide the best solution that gives real added value for our customers - with PERI you can rely on this at all times.

A PERI solution is always the result of three factors combined: product, concept and execution. We use our experience gained from successful global projects with diverse requirements to support our customers from the development of the technical solution, with the most suitable system equip-ment through cost-effective and safe execution, to the final return of materials.

Examples of our product and service portfolio, as well as a number of outstanding reference projects, can be found in this handbook. Naturally, we are not able to show everything. You may be curious to learn even more about our competence in terms of solutions. Your personal PERI Sales Engineer is on hand at any time to provide you with expert advice. He will familiarize you with our company and services, and will collaborate with you with great commitment and energy on your projects and on a long-term, reliable partnership.

We look forward to having you on board, to your questions and suggestions. Anywhere and at any time: at trade fairs, at one of our branch offices near you or at the company headquarters in Weissenhorn you are always welcome!

We wish you every success for the future.

Our services for your projectsFormwork, scaffolding and engineering from one source

For every concrete structure and compo-nent, PERI provides the most suitable formwork system. The portfolio fully meets the global requirements of differ-ent construction methods and boundary conditions.

As is still the case, formwork operations are a decisive cost factor in the realiza-tion of the buildings shell. Therefore, the PERI engineers and experts make every effort in order to further streamline working procedures as well as increasing user safety. The versatile application possibilities and the high quality of the system components make PERI form-work systems so intrinsically valuable.

PERI scaffolding can be used for a very wide range of applications. Regardless whether it is frame or modular scaffold, the great flexibility leads to a high level of material utilization.

All PERI developments, including those in the scaffolding sector, take into account the greatest possible safety standards not only for the scaffolder himself but also the users. Dangerous situations, usually at great heights, are eliminated due to design-related safety details. And last but not least, it must be noted that safe working conditions are more efficient and also save time.

For PERI, engineering not only means product development and technical plan-ning. In particular, PERI engineering stands for the detailed examination and optimization of integral processes in the areas of formwork and scaffolding.

PERI customers are therefore continu-ously supported throughout the entire course of the project, in particular with versatile and valuable services for sup-porting all work processes. In addition, along with continually improving the solutions, PERI carries out basic research, e.g. for new production processes of new materials.

Formwork gives the fresh concrete its shape up to the time it has hardened thus forming the negative of the concrete struc-ture and also characterizes, in many instanc-es, the subsequent visibly remaining surfac-es of a building.

Scaffolds are temporarily-used, reusable constructions which are utilized as working platforms, shoring for formwork or assem-bly work, access means as well as safety scaffold.

Engineering, on the one hand, is focused on basic research and, on the other, is also applied science. The greatest added value lies in the practical use of the knowledge for the realization of technical products or procedures.

The innovative MX tie technology, with ties installed at one side, significantly reduces the time and expense for the forming of walls. In addition, lost parts such as spacer tubes are no longer required.

Our engineers take into consideration the total cost of materials and working hours in every product development - we call this the performance price. Result: the great-est possible reduction in effort and working time.

PERI products are characterized through their innovative design, intelligent mechani-cal features and practical details manufac-tured with high quality standards and thus ideally suited for dealing with the tough everyday use on the construction site. Easy handling, maximum flexibility and, at the same time, safe application prove convinc-ing in the long-term.

A clear indicator of this is that we have always been able to set standards in the industry with numerous innovations, and that the vast majority of PERI systems have firmly established themselves in the market.

Our engineers are confronted with a very wide range of tasks on a daily basis from all around the world and with different tech-nical and execution-relevant requirements. The challenge of finding technically and cost-effectively optimized solutions togeth-er with our customers is something that the PERI experts are very pleased to accept. And the continuous exchange among colleagues around the world ensures that the experience gained through this benefits all of our customers as well as every project regardless of the size.

Our engineers plan and design optimized formwork and scaffolding solutions both from the technical as well as economic point of view, and frequently during the ten-dering phase. For the execution, we provide an extensive range of technical documenta-tion from construction drawings through to verifiable static calculations.

PERI software provides easily understandable planning while automati-cally generated parts lists contain accurate quantities for all system components and facilitates easier material planning.

PERI system equipment plus engineeringOptimized planning. For all requirements. Worldwide.

The engineers at PERI use their know-how in order to support building contractors in the realization of their individual projects by means of the best possible solutions. In so doing, they always keep a careful eye on the processes and costs as well as safety for con-struction site personnel.

Three-dimensional planning solutions lead to a better understanding of complex projects and their realization. The schematic representation of the structure of this form-work solution for an intake structure of a hydropower plant is a clear illustration of this.

PERI responsible for resultsExpert and qualified support. Services with added value. Efficient execution.

Also for the implementation of the plan-ning, we provide the very best support: from the start of construction right through to the last return delivery. Our close-knit network of logistics sites ensures fast avail-ability of materials for every project. In many markets, our system equipment is also available to rent as a cost-effective option for peak demands or less frequent tasks. And our sales engineers and supervi-sors provide active on-site support thus enabling users to efficiently utilize PERI system equipment right from the start.

With a combination of purchase and rental material models, project-specific require-ments and demand peaks, for example, can be fulfilled economically. PERI rental parks minimize the utilization risk for our custom-ers. Well-maintained equipment featuring state-of-the-art technology also provides a high level of safety during the execution.

myPERI is an example of how PERI further optimizes formwork and scaffolding processes. The online portal simplifies construction work procedures, e.g. with illus-trated return delivery notes.

The sales engineer is the first contact person also if there are questions regarding the use of the equipment on the jobsite.

Our customers can expect reliability from us for all deliv-eries. If required, large quantities of material are also available just-in-time to the respective construction site.

But we also think of the business manage-ment responsibility of our customers and support their controlling processes with performance-related invoicing and high transparency often online and around the clock. For large projects, project managers help to match the quantities of material to the actual requirements, and thus further optimize on-site material requirements and costs.

    Peak demands

    Material requirements

    System equipment for special applications

    Basic requirements

TimeMaterials requirements on the construction site during the course of the project

The service we provide simply does not end with the delivery. With PERI services, in particu-lar, we accompany and support our clients throughout the entire project and thus make a decisive contribution in ensuring an effective, safe and cost-effective realization.

The high quality of the PERI systems guar-antees a worthwhile investment. It is the basis for long product life cycles with high utilization rates. At PERI, quality begins with the careful selection of materials. Products are manufactured using real craftsmanship by our highly trained work-force who are supported by the availability of the most modern production facilities: Quality made by PERI.

The entire process is subject to continuous quality assurance which is clearly defined and has been repeatedly certified, from pur-chase through to delivery. Fully galvanized components and powder coating for com-prehensive corrosion protection are exam-ples of how we guarantee the long service life of our formwork and scaffolding sys-tems. As a result, PERI systems can stand up to the tough everyday operations on the jobsite frequently over decades.

PERI quality assurance already begins in the incoming goods operations. At this point, it is ensured that the raw materials correspond to the predefined PERI requirements.

In the girder production, the timber strength is tested by means of an X-ray scanner. The non-destructive testing method leads to reliable conclusions about the quality of the sawn timber.

The PERI systems are thoroughly tested through individ-ual test setups regarding their suitability for use in tough jobsite conditions, e.g. the MAXIMO tie point.

The issue of sustainability has a firm place in our business processes. Product devel-opment is already focused on the best utili-zation of materials and thus the most eco-nomical use. Raw material selection and procurement is carried out in terms of eco-logical sustainability with timber, for exam-ple, coming mainly from certified growing regions.

Sustainability as a basic principle: from the development to transportationResource-saving. Environmentally sound. Long-term ecological viability.

Future viability as well as ecological and economic sustaina-bility have a high priority for all PERI business activities.

New technologies and efficient production processes ensure the best quality and long service life of PERI system equipment which, in turn, has a positive effect on the consumption of resources. Delivery and construction site logistics are also opti-mized regarding shipping volumes and transportation routes. Strategically-posi-tioned sites guarantee short delivery dis-tances whereby transportation is also con-tinuously optimized through an intelligent logistics network.

PERI systems have been designed to ensure a long ser-vice life. With panel formwork for example, even badly damaged elements can be used again for countless other applications after repairs have been carried out and with new formlining.

The T 70 formwork girder is a good example of the lon-gevity of PERI Products. These girders were still being used in many rental parks long after the GT 24 had been launched as a further development.

The design of the MULTIPROP prop serves as an exam-ple for optimized material utilization. The carefully thought-out form provides the prop with a high load-bearing capacity and offers the best connection possibil-ities for accessories. Closed circuits: the biomass power station at the

Weissenhorn production site is a symbol for sustain-able action at PERI. From wood shavings a waste product from the girder production power and heat are generated in the power plant which contributes a significant part of the used energy mix at the pro-duction facilities.

Selection criteria for wall formwork systems

Dimensions of the vertical structural elements to be shuttered

Necessary adjustments in order to match ground plans

Available crane capacityApplied fresh concrete pressureConcrete surface and tie position

    arrangement requirementsRequired construction time

Originally, timbered wall formwork was comprised of boards and squared timbers. This has resulted in modular systems for a range of different requirements. Based on the respective construction, a distinc-tion is made between girder wall form-work and panel formwork.

The girder wall formwork consists of timber and/or steel girders connected to each other that form the support surface for the formlining. The optimization of individual elements and the development of a wide range of accessories for connections and attachments still makes girder wall formwork cost-effective in spite of the relatively high number of components. A major advantage is the flexibility in order to be able to adapt to complex shapes and high loads. In partic-ular, architectural concrete structures with special requirements for surfaces and anchor patterns can often only be efficiently realized with girder wall formwork.

The further reduction of the individual com-ponents resulted in wall formwork with welded frames made of steel or aluminium. Fixed panel sizes including formlining, sys-tem components for connections and wall connections, as well as other site-compliant detailed solutions, facilitate fast forming of large areas.

With the afore-mentioned systems, not only can walls, beams and columns be realized. They are also used for vertical structures in civil engineering as well as, with appropriate support structures, for single-sided constructions.

MAXIMO Panel FormworkTime-saving forming with MX tie technology as well as the best concrete finishes

FasterTies installed from one side without spacer tubesEfficientSystemized, reduced number of tie pointsClean finishImproved concrete finish, neat joint and tie arrangement

In spite of lower site personnel require-ments, MAXIMO is much faster than con-ventional panel formwork. The one-sided tie installation by only one person reduces the time required and, in addition, opens up new possibilities for realizing visibly remain-ing concrete surfaces with panel formwork.

The special MX tie is installed from one side only and is used without spacer tubes and cones. As a result, both material requirements and costs are reduced as well as saving time.

The MX shaft corner allows complete sets of shaft formwork to be moved quickly. Attaching and releasing is easily done from a safe position on the working level.

The BFD coupler provides a flush, aligned and tight connection in one simple operation. For standard panel joints, filler timber compensations up to 10 cm, extensions, external and internal corners as well as articulated corners.

    Column Formwork

Key criteria when selecting a column formwork

Dimensions and cross-section of the column to be formed

Resulting fresh concrete pressureRequirements on the concrete surfaceRequired construction timeAvailable crane capacities

Fast concreting with comparatively small column cross-sections leads to a high fresh concrete pressure on the formwork. Therefore, the joints in particular are to be formed very carefully in order to avoid leakage problems.

Column formwork is comprised of panel formwork elements or based on individual formwork girders. In addition, for particularly high demands on the pouring rate, even-ness and concrete surfaces, steel formwork is also available.

The quick and easy adjustment of the cross-section and height with the least possible number of system components is an important criterion for the versatility of a column formwork. Furthermore, high demands are often placed on the concrete surface. As conventional fixing of the form-work results in impressions of screws and nails being left in the concrete, systems were also developed that allow flawless surfaces to be realized.

    Slab Formwork

Selection criteria for a slab formwork system

Geometry such as the spatial dimensions (narrow, spacious), lateral limitations (open, closed) and the form of the slab surface (rectangular, polygonal, curved)

Required slab thickness and floor heightRequirements on the slab soffitCrane capacity and possibilities for

strikingRequired cycle timeRequired adjustments, e.g. to beams,

offsets, cantilever slabs, infill areas or building supports

Essential elements for slab formwork are the horizontal load-bearing structure and the support system. The horizontal con-struction supports the formlining and safely transfers the forces into the shor-ing which in turn carries the loads into the ground or components that have already been completed. Scaffolding and platforms form working levels and protect the user against falling or from falling objects.

Crosswise-mounted individual wooden or aluminium girders used as slab formwork have proven their worth over many years now. This construction with main and sec-ondary beams allows the use of any form-lining and also provides a high degree of flexibility regarding geometric adjustments that have to be carried out. Through the continuous optimization of the individual parts, girder formwork is still cost-effective today in spite of the high number of compo-nents involved.

Slab tables are also produced based on the same design principle, which includes the provision of a load-bearing system available in standard sizes or a project-related approach is taken with customized ele-ments. However, slab tables are only used in a larger-scale, open design form of con-struction as they have to be moved to a cra-neable position after being used underneath the slab.

Furthermore, various system formwork was developed featuring panels or girder grids. The recurring assembly sequence facilitates extremely fast shuttering times whilst the aluminium and steel materials used ensure a long service life for the system compo-nents.

SKYDECK Aluminium Panelized Slab FormworkThe lightweight and proven aluminium panelized slab formwork with the short forming times

    Slab Formwork

SKYDECK is easy and safe to install. The panels clip onto the outward projecting teeth and are immovably fixed in position. Handling is quickly mastered, even by personnel unfamiliar with this system.

With SKYDECK edge beams (75 cm and 150 cm lengths), shuttering of columns is a simple procedure. The infill areas are closed by means of 21 mm thick formlining.

Safety also at slab edges: the SKYDECK platform serves as working and safety scaffold, and saves the installation of additional safety platforms or netting.

Working with SKYDECK is easy and non-tir-ing resulting in fast, safe forming operations with a systematic assembly sequence. The well thought-out design with drophead allows early striking and reduces on-site material requirements. The small prop requirements simplifies the horizontal transportation of formwork materials.

MULTIFLEX Girder Slab FormworkThe universal girder slab formwork system for any ground plan and all floor heights

    Slab Formwork

Can be optimized for realizing all slab thicknesses and shapes through the selection of girder and girder combination

Cost-effective due to inexpensive and reusable componentsFree choice of formlining Infill areas are easily shuttered through the use of girders

With MULTIFLEX, every slab thickness, any ground plan and all floor heights can be formed. The system allows large spans which thus reduces the number of parts to be moved. As a result, MULTIFLEX stands for economical working operations for all requirements.

Load-bearingLarge spans result in a reduction in the number of componentsUtilization benefitsFewer girders and props (depending on slab thickness)AdaptableCan be adapted to suit every ground plan due to overlapping of the girdersFreely selectableChoice of formlining according to needs and requirements

The choice of girder is based on project-specific requirements: the GT 24 lattice girder allows large spans and thus reduces the number of parts to be moved. The VT 20K girder is the cost-effective solution for smaller slab thicknesses.

MULTIFLEX can be adapted to suit all ground plans. The telescoping of the slab girders or the change in the direction of the main beams ensure maximum flexibility.

The use of GT 24 girders as main and cross beams ensure that large spans are possible.

The use of the load-bearing GT 24 girder as a twin main beam, in connection with PERI UP Rosett Flex shoring, facilitates the transfer of heavy loads over great heights.

With the flexclip, MULTIFLEX is even safer as it prevents the cross beam from tilting. The anti-tilt device is available in three versions for different girder combinations.

The lifting fork moves the table in one lift onto the next floor. The slab props can be folded and easily mounted and dismantled thanks to the table swivel head.

Being able to divide the table swivel head has several advantages: the head can also be used with another top part for radial girder arrangements whilst the lower part can be pre-mounted on the slab prop.

Push-pull props or bracing can be mounted on the table swivel head.

The TK table head is the inexpensive alternative. It securely connects props and slab table to each other.

Selection criteria for the creation of shoring systems

Required height of the shoringLoads to be transferredBoundary conditions such as the contact

area and other spatial conditions for the assembly

Possibilities for assembly and disman-tling, e.g. use of crane and accessibility

Required working and storage areas as well as access possibilities

Shoring consists of temporary structural elements that can be set up and disman-tled at their point of use. They support the formwork for concrete support struc-tures until sufficient hardening has taken place or transfer loads from components and equipment during the construction, maintenance or demolition of structural works. Load-bearing elements are props, shoring towers or modular scaffolding.

Apart from tubular steel props, aluminium props are used which can be connected by means of frames and also utilized as a shoring tower or formwork table. Shoring towers can also be realized using frame supports by means of connectors. For very high loads, e.g. in bridge construction, heavy-duty props are frequently used.

Enormous flexibility is offered through the use of modular scaffolding, ranging from a simple shoring tower through to complex spatial shoring, and can be adapted to suit virtually any geometry as well as different loads.
