Anita ’ s CornerEnjoying the Beauty of God
As many of you know Pastor and I were gone on vacation for ten days. The Fuzzy Bees is our wrestling club here in Canton. We enjoy watching our grand-children excel in the things that they do. So, we had a
chance to go to Florida, to Disney World, and to watch Curtis and Joseph, our grandchildren, wrestle at ESPN. The team, as a whole, did very well. Placing seventh, put them in trophy place and gave them a team trophy, which they haven’t gotten in five years. Needless to say, the coaches, the wrestlers, the parents, grandparents and friends where all going crazy! So, each wrestler received a team medal. Many had a second medal for not losing more than one, two or three matches out of possibly, twelve matches. So much fun! So Proud, grandparents!
Now you know why we went to Florida. Now let me share the beauty of Our God. We flew out of Peoria to Florida. It is so amazing to me, the beauty as you ascended into the clouds. The beauty of the colors and watching the ground get smaller and smaller. I know we all have our own idea of beauty. What one sees as beauty, another may not give it any thought.
We walked for miles, and went to the different parks. It was nice to enjoy my grandchildren, to bond with them and enjoying one another, to see the excitement in there eyes and to experience the fun as we rode different rides together; rides I would have never ridden.
The last two days were at St. Pete’s Beach, to watch the water for miles and miles, hear the sound of the waves, feel the warmth of the water and the warm sand, watching the sun rise over the ocean and to see the biggest rainbow I have ever seen. I enjoyed having time with my husband and the family, seeing the beauty of the flowers and on and on.
Who Am I?
I am a very blessed daughter of The Lord. Beauty to me is seen in nature and the sounds of the different birds, squirrels and other sounds. I like to take the time to thank God for all the beauty that he has given to me. The gentle breeze, trees, the warmth of the sun on a cool morning. I know there is so much beauty all around us, and I don’t want to miss any of it. I want others to see the beauty in me and I pray that I will see the beauty in others, a sweet spirit and in love with God.

The month of May was a busy month and we were closed Memorial Day. We served 881 families with a total of 2108 people served. We also had an inspection by the Health Department; with the inspection, came some deficiencies in our storage and equipment. We received a score of 89 with the following problems and how we are treating them:
1. Food stacked wrong in the refrigerators-- Put labels on all the refrigerators.
2. Dented cans---Disposed of the dented cans.
3. Glass door coolers temperature was too hot ---Vaughn’s Plumbing is working on the coolers.
Food Pantry News
Again we invite everyone to visit the food pantry, donate money for the purchase of food or put food in the box outside the office for the Food Pantry. Come any Monday between 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. - we might even give you a job!!!!

Congratulations to Alvin “Catfish” Bartlett on receiving Canton Police Dept. Auxiliary Officer of the Year!
This is the 5th time that Alvin has received this award. Thank you for your service to our community!
Congratulations! It is a blessing to both of us, who
poured a lot of ourselves into the
ministry at FBC, to read and hear
of the church’s growth and health.
May the Lord continue to have His
way with all the leaders of FBC
that many will come to faith in
Christ and those of long standing
may grow stronger as they witness
their faith to all of Canton – and
beyond.
In His love – Larry & Ginny Campbell
A note to the church...
Please let the office know if we need to add your birthday or anniversary.
It’s that time again. What you ask? Well, The Annual FBC Picnic, of course :) We are planning to have lots of great
food, fun and fellowship. So, mark your calendars for July 30, 1pm, Big Creek Park
Pavilion and bring a healthy appetite. Also, please bring a covered dish (if bringing a utensil please have your name on both), your lawn chairs for either “cheering on” the ball players or just watching the kids jump on the Fun On The Run activities. The outlets will be used by the enter-tainment, so please bring a dish that doesn’t need electricity. The church will provide the “sacrificial bird” (chicken), tableware, plates, napkins and drinks therefore its VERY important that we have a head count. Be sure to sign up by the office so we’ll have enough for everyone. If you are participating in the softball game, bring your gloves, bats and softball.
Last month, Adult & Family had 50 tickets sold to the Christian night at the Peoria Chiefs. It was fun while it lasted, but unfortunately the rain prevented us from hearing the concert. I want to thank Carolyn Young and Sheila Vaughn for stepping in at the last minute to drive the church van. This is a ministry that is needing more drivers; if this is where you feel you could help out, please contact the church office and Beth will help you. Another ministry is Adult & Family, we are in need of more helpers for the church picnic. If you have a vehicle and want to help take

things out, or do any of the prep/clean-up work, I would gladly accept your help!!! My phone number is 224-4272 or tell Beth in the office and she’ll get the message to me.
While I’m thanking people, I would like to give an additional shout out to Leah Ayers and Joyce Nebergall who help me on the Wednesday night meals. They have been a life saver these last few months while I’ve had health issues!
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 30th! It’s going to be fun time so lets show how we spread the love and gifts that Christ gives us every day!

Over the past year, we have seen incredible blessings within the Children’s Ministry here at FBC. We’ve seen more families from the community join us and even a few kids that have decided to come with their friends for a visit and decided to stick with us. We’ve seen volunteers step out
of their comfort zone and offer to serve in areas that they didn’t think they ever would, or could, and they’ve done a wonderful job! We’ve had successful outreach events, and we continue to find ways to beef things up and create fun ways to teach children about our Lord and Savior.
So, some would think that it’s ok to sit back and run on cruise control…but that doesn’t happen within the FBC Children’s Ministry! We are going to keep striving to run after Jesus in the things we do, including our upcoming Vacation Bible School, Hero Central! I can’t wait to see things transform over the next few weeks as we prepare for the week of July 24th. Our kids are going to learn that we are ALL heroes and God has a plan for each one of us to serve our church and one another!
I’ve been reading a book by Dr. David Jeremiah titled “God in You – Releasing the Power of the Holy Spirit in Your Life”. He talks about how when we become Christians, it is a lifetime commitment of service and ministry. And we can’t do it on our own… but with the power of the Holy Spirit, we can do AMAZING things! When we think that we don’t have the funds to operate our ministry, God provides. When we step out of our comfort zone and serve in ways we didn’t think we could at church, God provides. When we plan and car-
have to trust and let the Spirit lead, which I have to admit, at times that can be hard to do! But when I do let go of the control, I see how God has been working for me and everything comes together.
So, I’m going to run hard the next few weeks and keep on running through the power of the Holy Spirit; and I’m thankful for all of you that have offered to help prepare for and manage Hero Central right along with me! If you want to help but maybe aren’t able to be with us during the week of VBS, please pray for us! Pray for our volunteers that they have the energy and strength to help lead our kids to Jesus, and pray for our children… that they see Jesus, accept Him, and have fun! It’s going to be amazing and I’m so excited to see what we can accomplish by working together, AND by letting the Holy Spirit lead the way for us!

ry out an outreach event, and think we won’t have the energy or strength to make it through, God provides. And when we think that our kids aren’t listening, something happens and they say or do something to show that the Holy Spirit has been at work… God provides! But we

and to provide services for us? Do we grasp the holiness of God and the sinfulness of humanity? Do we have a sense of the tran-scendent beauty, moral purity, and infinite righteousness of the Creator? Do we have a sense of the depth and extent and ugliness of our own depravity? Do we think God exists for our welfare, to help us feel good about ourselves? Do we envision God as in our debt, that He owes us life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
If you have not invited Jesus into your heart and became “born again” (John 3:1-21) please don’t wait; do so today. There is a deadline coming.
God Bless!
Chairman of the BoardIke
Greetings, as I sit and type this it is Friday June 30 about 6:00 am. I was sent an email last nightand asked if I was writing an article for the July “Pathways”. I thought to myself well I guess Ishould look at the calendar. Since retiring, I have developed a bad habit of not keeping track of the date nor time, because of that habit I have missed some other deadlines.
June 30 is also significant because it is the end of the “Fiscal Year” for the State of Illinois.Unless you are totally off of the proverbial grid you should understand the financial mess and the consequences of the State not having a balanced budget by midnight tonight. We will all have to stay tuned and see how it plays out. Have we prayed and asked God to intervene in the government affairs of Illinois?
Which leads me to wonder, do we procrastinate in our spiritual lives? Have we missed spiritual deadlines? Is our spiritual fiscal year in order? How do we approach God in our lives? How do we see God? Do we view God in the same manner as our government; there for our need
Mission HighlightMission work never takes a break and aren’t we thankful for that? Missionaries don’t take their calling lightly. They pray about it and then pray some more. The July missions that First Baptist Church supports includes United in Jesus Outreach and Life in Messiah. Both ministries are vital to teaching others about the Living Jesus and we are happy to support each one.
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to go to Bloomington to hear missionaries Jon & Amanda Good tell their story about what they have done and will be doing in Hungary. It’s exciting to hear how others are eager to learn and God is able to send missionaries to teach His Word to them. I’ve invited the Good family to tell their story on Sunday, July 23, during the church service with the opportunity to speak with them during a potluck lunch. Jon and Amanda
work with International Ministries (IM) which is part of a global mission movement that spans the entire world. Be sure to join us that day for a different outlook on mission work and ministry.

I would like to thank everyone who sent
cards and flowers and visited me in Graham
Hospital, those who sent birthday cards and
to Pat and Norma for their beautiful gift
and lastly to Joyce Nebergall for all she
does for me. I’m sure God placed her in
the apartment next to me for a purpose.
