10. Student feedback mechanism on Institutional Governance/faculty performance:

The Principal obtains the feed-back at least Twice a year from the students regarding the quality of teaching done by the teachers. In case of any shortcomings observed either in the quality of teaching or attitude, the teacher is suitably advised. Based upon the feedback the teachers are rated on a 10pt. Scale. Principal also takes feedback from the students regarding any difficulty or inconvenience faced by them and the issues are sorted out in consultation with the Deans, HODs and Wardens.

11. Grievances redressal mechanism for faculty Staff and students:

A Grievances Committee has been constituted way back in 2001 and its existence is widely circulated. Any major grievance, which could not be solved at the HOD level, can be submitted to the Committee. The Committee goes into the details and gives its suggestions to the Principal. The Principal in consultation with the Management takes appropriate steps for the redressal of the grievance.

A Suggestion Box is installed within the easy reach of the students in the Administrative Building so that they may communicate their grievances in writing. The Principal notes the suggestions so received to initiate corrective actions.

Department is associated with the Indian Institute of Architects, Nagpur Centre and Indian Town Planners Institute, Nagpur Centre, Institution of Engineers, Nagpur. Students and Faculty actively participate and attend the programmes oganised by these professional organizations time to time. Faculty members are involved in Professional Practice in Architecture and Interior Design, Valuation of immovable property, physical infrastructure development etc. Students are taken to visit the sites under construction which gives the practical knowledge to the students.

B.Arch 8th semester are participating in SAD Design competition as major design under curriculum organized by IIA Nagpur for students from all the institute under RTMNU, Nagpur & VNIT, Nagpur Interdepartmental Design competitions are held between two or more institutes for having the interaction of students at various levels.

Arch. Students participated in Zonal NASA and Annual National level NASA held at Solapur (16th to 18

th Aug.2014) and Chennai (26-28 Jan 15) respectively ……and

attempted four Trophies and have secured first trophy in „Short Film Making Competition‟. Also participated in „On the Spot Events‟.

I year B.Arch. students have participated in „Poster Making Competition‟ Organized by RPIA, Nagpur and won first prize.

The Annual Technical Festival (TEKNODEON-2K15) held during 11th to 13th Mar 2015. The event was specifically organized for the Engg. Architecture and Management students to provide a platform for the students to understand the basic underlying principles of the field of Engg., Architecture and Management wherein 30 events were conducted and 3000 students from various colleges were participated. In this technical fest, the students of Architecture conducted and participated in the various events viz. „Bob the Builder‟, “Constructo” „Pratibimb‟, „Scientoon‟ and „Paper Presentation‟ and students have also secured numbers of prizes.

Students of Architecture are actively participating in the Cultural Activities and Singing / Dancing competitions in the Institute and NASA.

Students of Architecture won 20 and more prizes in the various Games & Sports competitions held during Annual Sports competitions of the Institute and also participated at University level competitions and got prizes in the Badminton(Girls) and Foot ball (Boys)

Ar. Vilas Ramteke, Administrator, RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur has delivered a lecture on ‘Importance of Architecture Professional’ on 6th Aug. 2014 on

the eve of 1st year B.Architecture Orientation Program.

Prof. Ashok Nene, Retd. Professor, VNIT, Nagpur delivered a talk on ‗Building Materials and Construction Techniques in Ancient India‘ on 7th Aug. 2014 on the eve of B.Architecture Association inauguration function. In this talk the first year students were exposed for the first time which helped them to get an idea that what they were going to deal with during their study of Architecture course.

A two day workshop was organized on ‗Green Landscape for Energy Efficiency, Resource Conservation and Microclimate Modification

supplemented with a field study and identification of the VIPs (Very Important Plants) on K.I.T.S. Campus, Ramtek‖ by Dr.(Prof.) K.Mohan,

Senior Professor, School of Architecture, Gitam University, Vishakhapatnam on 23rd and 24th July 2014. The main goal of the workshop was to

help us the students to understand about landscaping and also the different types of plants and trees. A power point presentation was shown

first to all the batches and later the Professor showed them different plants and trees in the campus and also their importance in landscaping.


Prof. Rewatkar, PIADS, Nagpur delivered a lecture on ‗Sustainability through Energy Efficiency‘ on 12th Aug. 2014, for third year and fourth year students. He gave a brief explanation on how energy efficiency helps control rising energy costs, reduces environmental footprints, and increases the value and competitiveness of the buildings.

Ar. D.Sanyal, Academician, NIT, Raipur delivered a lecture on ‗Architecture as a Career‘ on 19th Aug. 2014. This was the first event held for the new first batch. As the students were entering to Architecture field for the first time, it was important to the help them understand everything about architecture as a career. Prof. Sanyal gave a lecture on the different fields related to architecture for specialization during post graduation and also about career options in india and countries abroad. This seminar helped them to have a clear mind for their years ahead in the field.

Mr. Vikas Shimpi, Interior Designer, Nashik conducted a 3-day workshop on ‗Model Making‘ during 23-25 Aug.2014 to provide them basic techniques like cutting and pasting were taught by him. The three day event gave amazing results, with models of different types and of different scale and beauty.

Dept. of Architecture felicitated Prof. D.R. Kandge, Visiting Professor, KITS, Ramtek (Retd. Professor of VNIT, Nagpur) on 17th Sept. 2014 to acknowledge his contribution to the Architecture Education under RTM Nagpur University for more than 5 decades. Contemporary academicians, Professors, Architects, Principals, including Dr. Ujwala Chakradeo, Principal, SMMCA and Chairman, Board of Studies, Prof. S.A.Deshpande, Former Head, Dept of Arch. VNIT, Nagpur, Prof. A. L. Chhatre, Former Head, Arch. Dept. VNIT, Nagpur, Prof. Uday Gadkari, COA President, New Delhi etc. have conveyed their experiences and appreciated Prof. D. R. Kandge for his relentless contribution in the field of Architecture and sent good wishes to Prof. D. R. Kandge.

An interactive session program was arranged on 7th Oct. 2014 with a Fine Artist from Mumbai, Sri Suhas Bahulkar, for all B.Arch. Students who interacted and showed them basics of sketching and color rendering using soft pastels.

Prof. Adam Hardy, UK has visited our institute on 15th Dec. 2014 to give an insight to our students about Indian temple architecture with its form formation.

A 3 days workshop on ‗Design Process with Climatic aspects‘ was organized through Smt. Manoramabai Mundle CoA Nagpur for the benefit of

students and staff.

The One Design Studio was arranged for B Arch Fourth Semester Students under the guidance of faculty from SMMCA, Nagpur.

An interactive and a fun event ‗Face Painting‘ held by the association on 31st Dec.2014. Students from first year to the third year took part in the event and were divided into groups of two. The task was to paint the teammate‘s half face on the topic ―Evergreen nature‖. The most fascinating thing about this particular event was that the students came up with many different concepts which was fun to see and understand.

Prof. D. Sanyal, NIT, Raipur has conducted Workshop on ―Intelligent Buildings‖ on 23rd and 24th Jan. 2015 He described intelligent building as the use of technology and process to create a building that is safer and productive for its occupants and more operationally efficient for its owners


.

A workshop on ‗Sustainability through Climate Responsive Architecture‘ was conducted by the Dept. during 9th and 10th Feb.2015 In this workshop Dr.(Prof.) K. Mohan, Senior Professor, School of Architecture, Gitam University, Vishakhapatnam explained the design techniques and even made students to make structures using newspaper to understand the stability of the building.

A two-days workshop on ‗Creativity‘ was conducted by Prof. D. R. Kandge, for the first years and the second years. The topic was ―Construction from Destruction‖. Materials like paper, bangles, mount board, foam brick etc. were used by the students to make their respective models by cutting or breaking their chosen materials.

A two-days workshop on ‗Construction‘ was held on 13th and 14th Feb. 2015 where in students of all the batches were given construction materials and they constructed arches and brick bonds. 1st and 2nd year students made brick bonds and 3rd, 4th, 5th year students constructed arches. They got the practical knowledge through this workshop.

A guest lecture on ‗Sensitivity in Architecture‘ was delivered by Prof. Uday Gadkari, President, Council of Architecture on 10th Feb.2015.

A proposal has been sent to Council of Architecture, New Delhi for conducting a National Workshop on ‗Basics of Building Designing‘ for faculty, Professionals and Scholars during April 2015.

Prize Distribution program for all the winners of the events under Archi Association was organized on 20th March 2015.

Other social activities carried out by the Dept

Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan undertaken by Dept. of Architecture to clean the surroundings of Ambala Temple of Ramtek town during 18th Feb.2015 as per the directives received from the Ministry of HRD and AICTE/University.

As per the directives received from AICTE & Dept. of HRD, Literary club organized a ‗Public Speaking Contest‘ on ‗Role of Technology in Good Governance‘ on 6th Jan. 2015.

NSS Unit of KITS, Ramtek and staff club collected donations from staff and students to help the victims of Jammu Kashmir and Hudhudh Cyclone Victims of Andhra Pradesh. Rs. 33,224/- was collected and deposited to the Prime Minister‘s National Relief Fund.

Tree plantation program was taken up by the NSS Unit in Yogiraj Hospital. Around 100 saplings were planted in the hospital premises.

NSS Unit also conducted a 3-day camp in Bhandarbodi during Jan 2015 to create awareness about ‗Environmental pollution post Ganesh visarjan‘, importance of blood donation, Environmental cleaning, ‗rain water harvesting‘, ‗solar energy‘, ‗awareness on casting of votes‘, Swaccha Bharath Abhiyan were conducted. Further it also arranged free medical check-up camp.

For the Noble Cause of the humanity a Blood Donation Camp was organized on 30th Jan. 2015 to commemorate the Martyrs‘ Day where in 253 students/staff donated blood.

18. Counseling/Mentoring:

A small group of students is attached to a teacher who acts as their counselor/mentor. The counseling students are required to meet the counselor on a regular basis and interact with him/her frequently. In case of any problem the counselor provides suitable advice. The counselor acts as a friend, philosopher and guide for his counseling students.

Career Counselling:

The Institution has fully functional Training and Placement Cell. An independent Training and Placement Officer head it. The career counseling mostly done by the Training and Placement Cell The Personality Development Training Programmes are regularly conducted in association with the M/S. Career Path Solutions, Hyderabad for the benefit of the students.

Medical facilities : A part-time Medical Officer is appointed by the Institute to provide Medical facilities to the students. The Institute houses a dispensary to cater to the medical needs of the students. In case of medical emergency vehicle facility is provided to the students to take them to the nearby hospital.

Students Insurance: Student Insurance facility is provided to the students, which provides insurance cover to the extent of Rs. 10,000/-.

Students Representative Council (SRC) is constituted in the Institute, which consist of various class toppers, and the Final year Class Topper acts as its President. Various extra-curricular activities are planned and organized by the SRC Body for the students.

Cultural Activities:

Various Cultural Activities are planned and organized by the SRC Body throughout the year for the students.

Sports Activities:

The institute has a full-fledged Physical Education Department to provide sports and games facilities to the students. The sports and games activities are held throughout the academic year from July to February for boys and girls. Students are encouraged to participate in various sports and games at National/State/ University /Inter- collegiate

levels. Every year the students of the institute are winning various prizes in the national and state level competitions and bring laurels to the institute.

The institute has a well-equipped 12 and 4 station gymnasium and weight lifting sets and about 150 students make use of these facilities every day. The Indoor Games Complex, built with the grants received from the central government, of international standards, has facilities for basketball, badminton, table tennis, caroms, chess and a gymnasium. Vast area and facilities for Athletics, Kho-kho, Volleyball, Foot Ball, Hand Ball, Beach Volley Ball, Tennikoit, lawn tennis and Cricket are available in the campus.


Literary activities:

The institute has a Literary Club to enhance and sharpen the literary skills of the students. Students are encouraged to participate in literary competitions like debates, elocutions, singing etc, at national/state/ university /inter- collegiate levels. Every year the students of the institute are winning various prizes in the national/state/ university /inter- collegiate level competitions and bring laurels to the institute.

A Language Lab has been set up where the students are taught about the Basic English Skills, which include pronunciation skills, written skills etc.

Magazine / News Letter:

The Institute brings out a college magazine every year where the students of the institute contribute articles of technical and non-technical nature, stories, poems, etc. The college magazine helps the students to exhibit their intrinsic literary talents. The Institute also publishes Quarterly News Letter highlighting the achievements of the students and the staff and also various activities conducted by the institute.

Technical activities/Tech.Fest:

The department has a fully functional ‗Architecture Association‘ for developing the overall

personality Leadership qualities of the future Architects. The Association regularly

organizes various Co—curricular & extracurricular activities like poster making, design

competitions, Mural making, Elongation, Seminars and guest lectures, participation in the

national and zonal level NASA events, exhibitions, workshops, paper presentations, site

visits, etc.

The Annual Technical Festival (TEKNODEON-2K15) held during 11th to 13th Mar 2015. The event was specifically organized for the Engg. Architecture and Management students to provide a platform for the students to understand the basic underlying principles of the field of Engg., Architecture and Management wherein 30 events were conducted and 3000 students from various colleges were participated.

Apart from the above the following activities were conducted by the Dept. during 2014-15.

An awareness programs on ‗anti terrorism‘, by Mr. Totare, Chief of Anti Terrorism Squad,

Nagpur, ‗road safety‘ by Dr.Sanjay Jogdan, Police Inspector, Traffic Control Nagpur in

association with Dr.Deepak Salunke, Asst. Suptd. of Police Ramtek, , and awareness on

‗cyber crime‘ was organized by Mr.Abhishek Mahure during 2014-15.

Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan undertaken by Dept. of Management Studies during Mar.2015 as per the directives received from the Ministry of HRD and AICTE/University.

As per the directives received from AICTE & Dept. of HRD, Literary club organized a

‗Public Speaking Contest‘ on ‗Role of Technology in Good Governance‘ on 6th Jan. 2015.

NSS Unit of KITS, Ramtek and staff club collected donations from staff and students to help the victims of Jammu Kashmir and Hudhudh Cyclone Victims of Andhra Pradesh. Rs. 33,224/- was collected and deposited to the Prime Minister‘s National Relief Fund.

Tree plantation program was taken up by the NSS Unit in Yogiraj Hospital. Around 100 saplings were planted in the hospital premises.


NSS Unit also conducted a 3-day camp in Bhandarbodi during Jan 2015 to create awareness about ‗Environmental pollution post Ganesh visarjan‘, importance of blood donation, Environmental cleaning, ‗rain water harvesting‘, ‗solar energy‘, ‗awareness on casting of votes‘, Swaccha Bharath Abhiyan were conducted. Further it also arranged free medical check-up camp.

For the Noble Cause of the humanity a Blood Donation Camp was organized on 30th Jan. 2015 to commemorate the Martyrs‘ Day wherein 253 students/staff donated blood.

An awareness camp on ‗Drug Addiction‘ and also a workshop on ‗Stress Management‘ were conducted by ISHRAE KITS Chapter.

Study tour / site visits

Site visits are conducted every year semester wise for providing hands on experience to the students of the department.

Study tour was organized for Architecture students during Nov 2013. Students visited

Bhubaneshwar, Puri, Konark, Delhi, Agra, Khajuraho, Sanchi, etc.

Alumni activities The institute has an independent alumni charter to interact with the passed out students

of the institute. The alumni charter organizes various alumni meets on a regular basis in the campus and outside campus. Alumni Meet of Architecture students was organized during Sept. 2013 and Jan. 2014. 200 alumni visited the campus and shared their experiences with the students.
