DescriptionRQ-7 Shadow 200 Tactical UAV

The Shadow 200 Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle system provides brigade-level commanders with real-time intelligence of what is happening on the ground - day or night, while being virtually undetectable. The secret is its ability to fly at extremely high altitudes while using advanced imaging systems capable of seeing from great distances.

SpecificationsThe air vehicle is intended to provide coverage of a brigade area of interest for up to four hours, at 50 kilometers from the launch and recovery site. The maximum range is 125 kilometers (limited by data link capability), and operations are generally conducted from 8,000 to 10,000 feet above ground level during the day and 6,000 to 8,000 feet above ground level at night. The air vehicle uses a pneumatic launcher and is recovered by a tactical automatic landing system without pilot intervention on the runway. The air vehicle is stopped using an arresting hook and cable system.

DescriptionTC-AIMS II

TC-AIMS II is a top-down directed program aimed at addressing critical shortfalls in the transportation of materiel and personnel, in support of Department of Defense (DoD) operations. Downsizing trends within DoD have created a profound reduction in the strength and number of pre-positioned forces worldwide. As a result, DoD depends more than ever on rapid and effective force deployments to accomplish U.S. defense objectives. To achieve these goals, the DoD must rely on Automated Information Systems (AISs) capable of operating within a leaner infrastructure. The DoD must modernize, standardize and reengineer the AISs that support the Defense Transportation System (DTS). TC-AIMS II emerges as the result of this process. TC-AIMS II combines the best of the current systems into a single AIS capable of meeting both multiple and individual Service requirements.

DescriptionCAISI

CAISI is a tactical wireless LAN It provides wide area connectivity between the end users and the networks. CAISI secures the wireless links with encryption and access control technology from Fortress Technologies Inc. of Tampa, Fla. The wireless Ethernet standard uses the 2.4-GHz band at data rates up to 11 Mbps. Under WEP, all users of an 802.11b access point share one encryption key, and its weak encryption makes it easy to decipher. Also, wireless access depends on a user device’s media access control layer address, which is easy to discover and spoof.

SpecificationsCAISI is a deployable wireless LAN infrastructure that can link up to 40 tents, vans, or shelters in a deployed seven-square kilometer area. It includes FIPS 140-approved encryption (Federal Information Processing Standards security requirements) for sensitive but unclassified (SBU) traffic. CSS SATCOM uses commercial off-the-shelf auto-pointing remote satellite terminal hardware repackaged in fly-away transit cases. Four fixed-site, contractor-operated commercial teleports provide global coverage. CSS SATCOM supports operations at quick halt and rapid movement within the battle space, and eliminates the “sneaker net,” or the often dangerous transport of re-supply or spare parts orders on floppy disks. CSS SATCOM is totally Internet protocol (IP)-based and connected to the Army’s LandWarNet and DOD GIG.

DescriptionM992 FAASV Field Artillery

Ammunition Supply Vehicle The M992 Field Artillery Ammunition Support Vehicle (FAASV) is basically the chassis of a standard M109 155mm self-propelled howitzer with the turret replaced by a fully enclosed superstructure. Following Desert Storm, the program followed two development paths during the mid-1990s: new manufacture of 125 M992A1s and upgrade of all M992A0s to M992A2 configuration.

SpecificationsAble to carry a 12,000-pound (5,454 kg) ammunition payload, the FAASV can be configured for various ammunition needs and specifications. A 50-caliber machine gun is part of the FAASV's defense. Artillery cargo and crew are protected from fire threats by separate Automatic Fire Suppression in both crew and engine compartments. An 11.5-horsepower auxiliary power unit provides power support to the FAASV in the field, enabling it to move any type of towed howitzer at a maximum forward speed of 40 mph (64 km/h) and a reverse speed of 7 mph (11.3 km/h). The same Low Heat Rejection engine used in the M109A6 Paladin provides cold start capability and high horsepower for the vehicle, enabling the FAASV to keep pace with artillery forces.

DescriptionTactical Quiet Generators (TQG)

The Tactical Quiet Generators (TQGs) are the latest generation of military generators for use by the Armed Forces. They were developed in response to the changing military threats, new strategies, and fiscal constraints which dictated improved battlefield survivability, enhanced deployment/maintainability and reduced operating and support costs. These military generators use predominantly commercial components, and provide a "Quantum Leap" in performance for the Standard Family of DoD Generators.Libby Corporation won the contract to develop the 5-60kW generators, and Fermont Division the 3kW TQG. Specifications

TQGs are skid or trailer mounted generator sets, are "single-fuel" compliant (operate on diesel/JP fuels), have radically improved survivability, mobility, reliability and maintainability (see the benefits chart). Noise has been reduced to 70 dbA or less, quiet enough to reduce detection ranges from over a mile to less than 400 meters. The sets are undetectable from the front and sides by ground or airborne FLIR. Weight and size has been reduced by 20%, improving mobility and deployment. Significant improvements (16-19%) were made in maintainability (MTBF) and serviceability (PMCS) -- reducing both cost and manpower support costs. Finally, reliability has improved by over 100%.

DescriptionM7 Bradley Fire Support Team

Vehicle

As the name implies, the M7 BFIST is a modified M2A2 ODS (Operation Desert Storm) Bradley fighting vehicle that has been equipped with a specialized fire support mission equipment package (MEP). In addition to providing the critical fire support teams with the same mobility, survivability and battlefield signature as the A2 series Bradley, the M7 provides fire support teams with a 25 mm cannon for self-defense. Most important, the M7 design provides, for the first time, the ability to "target on the move."

SpecificationsBFIST is a point-and-shoot and point-and-lase system for fire supporters. Its features are dramatic improvements over the FIST-V and equate to new capabilities to derive accurate target location at the push of a button--no targeting head to erect, no initialization of targeting systems each time you stop, no additional night sight to install and no challenge getting the ten-digit grid into the digital system.
