Traditional Network-Based Backup with Proxy Server
• Proxy backup server runs backup agent and resides on network
• NAS volumes mounted through CIFS or NFS for backup to proxy server
Less efficient due to excessive use of network to move data between systems
Can cause performance degradation for backup operations

• Provides local or remote block-level point-in-time copies
