INTRODUCTORY REMARKS
•The post 1994 euphoria led to the erosion of crowd management as there were no unrests anymore. The country started hosting global events like the World Summit on Sustainable Development, the World Cricket Cup, World Rugby Cup and the World Soccer World Cup which necessitated that members be trained in Crowd Management and the Country benchmarked in other Countries like France which hosted the last Soccer World Cup.
•The emergence of service delivery protests, labour unrests, Western Cape incidents amongst others also necessitated focus Crowd Management Training and continued benchmarking.
•A standard generic training was introduced to train all Basic Police Development trainees in Crowd Management First Responder with effect from November 2012.
•The Organisation has also embarked on a refresher training in Crowd Management both at Divisional Level at ORS as well as Division HRD for a further structured refresher training which is mandatory.
