Collapse uterine balloon loosely around and over tip. Collapse vaginal balloon.

7 Close Laparotomy

Thread uterine balloon through cervix to fundus.

Collapse uterine balloon loosely around and over tip. Collapse vaginal balloon.

9 Deflate / Remove8 Monitor Blood Loss

Close laparotomy in usual fashion. Open stopcocks to remove fluid slowly. Titrate according to hospital protocol.

Attach graduated container to drainage lumen to measure and monitor blood loss.

4 Inflate Uterine Balloon 6 Place Vaginal Balloon5 Fingers & Sutures

Close stopcocks. Use IV bag and spike or syringe and stopcocks. Fill incre-

mentally until desired volume.

Anchor uterine balloon by locking vaginal balloon in place and inflating

Keep fingers at cervix during inflation. Inflate incrementally, paying close atten-

tion to uterine distention

1 Close Hysterotomy 2 Collapse Balloons

Close uterine incision in usual fashion.

NOTE: If rapid removal is needed, cut catheter.
