1. Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures.

2. Select the appropriate dressing size.

3. Prepare and clean the skin surrounding the wound area by removing excess moisture. Any excess hair should be clipped to ensure close approximation to the wound.

4. Start to remove the protector material from the dressing and anchor the adhesive side of the dressing to the skin.

5. When positioning ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum, place the narrow end of the dressing a minimum of 2cm/ ¾ in. above the anal sphincter.

6. Smooth the dressing over the wound removing the remaining protector material and ensure that the dressing is adhered all around the wound.

7. ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum can be cut and an aseptic technique should be used with cutting the dressing. Ensure any exposed foam areas are covered with an appropriate film dressing taking care not to cover the entire dressing.

During the early stages of wound management, ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum should be inspected frequently. PrecautionsDo not use ALLEVYN Gentle Borderdressing with oxidising agents such ashypochlorite solutions (e.g. EUSOL) orhydrogen peroxide, as these can breakdown the absorbent polyurethanecomponent of the dressing. If reddening orsensitisation occur discontinue use.

Mode d’emploi1. Nettoyer la plaie selon le protocole habituel.2. Choisir un pansement de taille adaptée3. Indications ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum is indicated for the management of

exuding, granulating wounds on the sacrum by secondary intent.

Frequency of change During the early stages of treatment, ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum

dressings should be inspected frequently. Dressing can be left in place for up to five days depending on the condition of the wound and the surrounding skin or until exudate is visible and approaches to within 0.5cm/3/16in of the edge of the dressing pad, whichever is sooner. Local clinical protocols should be taken into consideration.

Removal To remove the ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum dressing, lift one

corner of the dressing and slowly peel back until completely removed from the wound. Sacral dressings should be removed from the top edge and down towards the anus to minimise the chance of transmitting infection.

Contraindications / Precautions ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum should not be used with oxidising

agents such as hypochlorite solutions (eg Eusol) or hydrogen peroxide, as these can break down the absorbent polyurethane component of the dressings.

If reddening or sensitisation occurs use of ALLEVYN should be discontinued and a healthcare professional consulted.

ALLEVYN™ Gentle Border Sacrum ApplicationSelect an appropriate dressing size. Prepare and clean the skin surrounding the wound by removing excess moisture. Start to remove the protector material and anchor the adhesive side of the dressing to the skin. When positioning ALLEVYN Gentle Border Sacrum dressing, place the narrow end of the dressing a minimum of 2cm (3/4in) above the anal sphincter, then removal any remaining protector material and smooth the dressing over the sacrum.
