Husband journalist with The New York Times Research interests: social networking and social media,

What is CIS101?
Fulfills core requirement for computing course

What is a learning community?
Required to take at least one learning community
Same students meet in two parallel classes, CIS101 and BUS150
Student teams will be the same for both classes
Final team project will have BUS150 requirements and CIS101 requirements
You will get separate grades for both classes

The goals of a learning community
Link courses and disciplines so that students and their professors experience a coherent and enriched learning environment together

Hybrid class structure Combines in class meetings and

Class interaction and learning delivered using technology
Online site combines readings, quizzes, and discussion forums
Pace uses Blackboard course management software to administer online courses
