Existing Problems:

1. There is no data available to simultaneously indicate that an enterprise is regarded as an SME, both on the basis of the number of employees and the amount of paid-in capital or revenue.

2. Data from different sources should not be used together.

3. Some of the data provided does not cover the entire business community .

4. Issue of inconsistent business classification criteria.

Improvements in the future

1. The frequency of the updating of statistical data on SME should be increased.

2. A ‘number of employees’ column should be added to the VAT declaration form.

3. Statistical data on the marketing and R&D of SME should be reinforced.

4. A ‘gender’ column should be added to VAT data to support studies on issues relating to women in the workforce.
