Two Kinds Of People

The Believermakarios (mak-ar'-ee-os) Blest

• Matt 5:3-12 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

• 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.• 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.• 6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness:

for they shall be filled.• 7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.• 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.• 9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children

of God.• 10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake:

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.• 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you,

and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.• 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in

heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The believer realizes:• Their spiritual helplessness• Their sorrow over sins• Their hunger for righteousness• Their need for meekness & purity• Their desire to be peacemakers• Their willingness to be slandered• Their pronounced persecution• Their plight of being rediculed

The unbeliever is:• Proud

• Self-sufficient

• Self-centered

• Self-reliant

• Selfish

• Sadly they seem to think that there is no way they could stand as someone that is unrighteous before such a loving and understanding God

The believer must influence the unbeliever

• By what he is, not what he has• Christ did not say ye have salt and light• Matt 5:13-14 Ye are the salt of the

earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. ( He is talking about us ! )

• 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

• The believers very presence in the world acts as salt and light

• We prevent corruption

• We expose error

• We put into practice principles of Christ

• We act out who we are

• We become examples of Christianity in action

Here is how it works!• 2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us

exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

• Because of Christ, the believers are no longer "fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners“ I Cor 6:9-10

Rather we are . . . . different• 1 Cor 6:11-12 And such were some of

you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

• 12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

• We must make tough decision as to who and what we are in Christ Jesus

We become peculiar . . . .

• Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

• The unbeliever notices how much we have changed and what our priorities are in life.

Remember makarios (mak-ar'-ee-os)

• The adjective makários (blessed)

means not only indwelt by God because of Christ, but also being fully satisfied.

• Having obtained peace with God through Christ, the believer is more fulfilled than if he had all the world as his possession

• I am happy living this new life

• Luke 9:25-26 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

• 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.

Can you find contentment

• 2 Cor 6:10 As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

• Christians finding joy in the things in life that count the most. These give eternal security to the believer.

Contrary to what some believe• The Christian must interact with the world to

act as salt and light• 2 Cor 5:4-7 For we that are in this tabernacle

do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

• 5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

• 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

• 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

Let your light so shine before men, that they

may see your good works, and glorify

your Father which is in heaven.
