Department of Languages and Literature, Faculty of Cultural Studies Universitas

Brawijaya. Supervisor: Indah Winarni, Co-supervisor: Yana Shanti Manipuspika.

The use of language is influenced by tenor. Tenor refers to social status,

affect and contact. Different tenor makes attitudes and judgment also different.

There is different tenor of participants in Indonesia Lawyers Club entitled

“Tawuran Kok Jadi Budaya?”, in which the tenor can be seen from the clause

types used by participants. There are two research problems of study to be solved,

(1) what are the clause types used by participants in Indonesia Lawyers Club

entitled “Tawuran Kok Jadi Budaya?” and (2) how is the tenor reflected in the

clause types used by participants in Indonesia Lawyers Club entitled “Tawuran

Kok Jadi Budaya?”

This study uses qualitative approach. The researcher took document

analysis because the purpose of document analysis is identifying specific

characteristics of the materials which in this research are interpersonal function of

Indonesia Lawyers Club talk show entitled Tawuran Kok Jadi Budaya?. The data

of this study are the utterances of three participants in that talk show.

The researcher found that the clause types used by participants in the talk

show are declarative mood, interrogative mood and imperative mood. Tenor is

reflected in the clause that is used. Every clause has different reflection. Tenor

which is reflected in declarative mood was expression of information,

clarification, narrative and sympathy, in interrogative mood was information

demanding, in imperative mood was command.

In conclusion, the researcher realized that every participant in the talk

show has different clause types that is used. Tenor that is reflected on the clause

types makes different attitudes and judgments of the participants. Therefore, the

researcher suggests the next researcher to use another movie or live interview

besides talk show as the data.

Pengunaan bahasa dipengaruhi oleh tenor. Tenor terdiri dari status sosial,

pengaruh dan hubungan. Perbedaan tenor membuat sikap dan pandangan juga

berbeda. Ada perbedaan tenor dari peserta talk show Indonesia Laywers Club

berjudul “Tawuran kok Jadi Budaya?”. Tenor dapat dilihat dari jenis klausa yang

digunakan. Ada dua masalah penelitian penelitian ini: (1) Apa saja jenis klausa

yang digunakan peserta talk show di Indonesia Lawyers Club berjudul “Tawuran

Kok Jadi Budaya?” dan (2) Bagaimana tenor direfleksikan pada jenis klausa yang

digunakan peserta talk show di Indonesia Lawyers Club berjudul “Tawuran Kok

Jadi Budaya?”.

Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Peneliti mengambil

data dokumen karena tujuan dari data dokumen adalah mengidentifikasi secara

spesifik karakter dari bahan yang didalam penelitiana dalah fungsi interpersonal di

talk show Indonesia Lawyers Club berjudul “Tawuran Kok Jadi Budaya?”.Data

dalam penelitian adalah pembicaraan dari tiga peserta talk show.

Peneliti menemukan jenis klausa yang digunakan oleh peserta talk show

adalah declarative mood, interrogative mood dan imperative mood. Tenor

dicerminkan dari klausa yang digunakan. Setiap klausa memiliki pencerminan

yang berbeda. Tenor yang dicerminkan dalam declarative mood adalah ekspresi

informasi, klarifikasi, naratif dan simpati, dalam interrogative mood adalah

permintaanin formasi dan ekspresi naratif, dalam imperative mood adalah

perintah.

Sebagai kesimpulan, peneliti menyadari bahwa setiap peserta talk show

memiliki perbedaan jenis klausa yang dipakai. Tenor yang dicerminkan dalam

jenis klausa membuat perbedaan sikap dan pandangan peserta talk show. Oleh

karena itu, peneliti menyarankan peneliti selanjutnya dapat menggunakan film

atau wawancara langsung selain talk show sebagai data penelitian.
