2 BEFORE PROCEEDINGLocate water supply inlets and shut off the water supply valves. These are usually found near the water meter. If you are replacing an existing valve, disconnect the old valve and clean the mounting surface thoroughly. Align and adjust water supply pipes to recommended dimensions. For new construction install water supply pipes to recommended dimensions.

7 VALVE INSTALLATION
CAUTION:Be sure to position the valve body (7A) correctly in wall, ”SHWR” marking up and “TUB” marking down. Place valve body (7A) so that front of the plasterguard (7B) is flush with the finished wall surface (7C). Depth (7E) for valve body in wall is measured from the center of the shower outlet (7D) to the finished wall surface (7C). Minimum distance (7E) is 2 5/8" and maximum is 3 1/2".
6
8WARNING: DO NOT solder pipes without first removing all plastic and flammable parts. When using sealant please follow manufacture’s recommended instructions.
9
8 FIBERGLASS INSTALLATIONKnock out center section (8A) of plaster guard (8B) and remove screws (8D). For installation of fiberglass walls, use the support plate in (8C) in addition to the plaster guard (8B). For installation to other wall types, do not use the support plate (8C) and the use of the plaster guard (8B) is optional. Depth (8E) for valve body in wall is measured from the center of the shower outlet (8F) to the finished wall surface (8C). Minimum distance (8E) is 2 5/8" and maximum is 3 1/2".
9 TUB SPOUT PREPARATIONScrew pipe nipple (9A) into the elbow (9B) inside the wall and tighten with a pipe wrench. The pipe nipple (9A) is to project 3 7/8” to 4” (9D) from the finished wall (9C).Note: Use Thread Sealant or PTFE Plumbers Tape on all threaded Water Pipe connections (See Section 5).

9 SUPPLY CONNECTIONS
CAUTION:Reducing outlet supply pipe diameter is not recommended!Connect hot (9A) and cold (9B) water inlets to valve.Note: Use Thread Sealant or PTFE Plumbers Tape on all threaded Water Pipe connections (See Section 5). For Shower Only Installation, plug bottom outlet with plug (9C). If pipes are reversed go to step 10.
10 BACK TO BACKFor back to back installationIf hot and cold inlets are reversed (back to back installation) (10C) unscrew the plasterguard and bonnet assembly. Flip the bonnet assembly (10A) upside down with the notch (10B) facing up and screw it back on.
11 PRESSURE TESTING VALVE1. Use a 1/2" iron pipe plug (11A) on both the shower outlet (11C) and tub outlet (11D). Turn stem (11B) counter clockwise to full on position and check all connections for leaks. 2. Rotate stem (11B) clockwise to turn off.
CAUTION: Slowly remove pipe plugs (11A) from tub and shower outlets to relieve pressure.

12 FLUSHINGFor Tub and Shower Combinations1. Remove screws (12B) and plasterguard (12A).2. Turn on Hot and Cold water supply lines. Pressure must be approximately equal on both Hot and Cold sides for valve to function properly.3. Rotate stem (12E) counter clockwise allowing water to flow from tub spout outlet (12C) until all foreign matter has cleared the line. Repeat this step in the warm and full hot positions. Water should not be flowing from shower outlet (12D) during this test. If water is flowing from shower outlet please check your valve to see that the casting mark “SHWR” is facing up (see step 7).

14 TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENTBefore proceeding be sure that the notch (14C) is pointing down. If the notch (14C) is not pointing down, refer to step 7. Remove adjustment gear (14A), rotate the stem (14B) counter clockwise and check the water temperature. Determine maximum temperature desired and replace the gear so that the stem (14B) cannot move beyond this point. Proceed to finished wall and Handle & Trim Installation.
15 INTEGRAL VALVE STOPSValve (15A) provides an alternate means to shut off the water supply. With a flat head screwdriver (15B), the pressure can be adjusted by rotating the valve stem (15C). The entire water can be shutt off by rotating the valve stem (15C) clockwise. This valve can be used for temporary water shutt to allow access to the cartradge assembly (15D) for maintenance and other uses.
16 CLEANING CARTRIDGEIf Temperature or Flow does not remain constant, the Balancing Cartridge must be cleaned. Shut-off water supply. Remove Trim assembly (not showned). Remove screws (16C), Stem (16B) and Bonnet Assembly (16A). Pull out Balancing Cartridge (16D), inspect inlets for sediment and flush with water. Inspect O-rings (16E & 16F) for dammage. Re-install Balancing Cartridge (16D), Stem (16B) and Bonnet assembly (16A), (go to step17 for reinstalling unit) then turn on water supply. If problem persists replace Balancing Cartridge (16D).

Pressure must be approximately equal on both Hot and Cold sides for valve to function properly.3. Be sure to plug Bottom Outlet with Plug (13D) using Thread Sealant.4. Rotate stem (13E) counter clockwise, allowing water to flow from shower outlet (13C) until all foreign matter has cleared the line. Repeat this step in the warm and full hot positions.
CAUTION: If water flow becomes low or no flow at all, refer to Step 16.

18 TROUBLE SHOOTINGTS-1Dripping from either the tub spout or shower head.Clean the balancing cartridge. Check to ensure the two oval O-Rings on the back of the cartridge and the two spring loaded washers at the front are in place. Reassemble cartridge, stem and bonnet assembly and handle. Turn on the water and test. If the unit still leaks, replace the balancing cartridge and the stem and bonnet assembly.
TS-2 (refer to step 13)Water flow is very low.Check the balancing cartridge, figure 9 page 7, for debris. Sediment where the water enters the shower head can also cause this symptom.
TS-3Water starts out hot and becomes cooler as handle is rotated counter clockwise. This is a potentially hazardous situation and should be corrected before using the unit. Check the hot and cold inlet positions. If you have a back to back installation, (where hot and cold inlets are reversed) refer to step 10 of this installation guide.
TS-4Water flows from the shower head while filling the tub.Check the position of the valve body. The letters “SHWR” should be cast into the top and “TUB” on the bottom as indicated figure 7.
TS-5Water doesn’t get hot enough.Remove handle, sleeve and flange and then refer to figure 12 for adjusting temperature range.
TS-6Water flows from the tub spout while using the shower. The seal inside of the diverter mechanism may have become dislodged. The spout may need replacement.
CAUTION: MaintenanceDISASSEMBLY

17 REPLACING CARTRIDGEWhen reassembling unit, be sure that the tabs (17E & 17F) from the Bonnet assembly (17A) and Cartridge (17C) are set properly on the Valve Body groves (17G)
WARNING: When reassembling the Balancing Cartridge (17C), Stem (17B) and Bonnet assembly (17A) please be sure that the placement of the O-ring (17D) is within the groove. Failure to do so will result in water leaks.
