Information on the Au-Pair Programme in Austria

For aupair candidates from EU-Countries and Non-EU-Countries

REQUIREMENTS FOR AUPAIRS IN AUSTRIA:1. The aupair must be between 18 and 27 years old.

(The work permit is only authorized until the 28. birthday)2. The girls/boys must have learned German for at least 6 months (at school, college, university,

language school, etc). 3. Experience in childcare and housework. 4. They must not have been an aupair in Austria during the last 5 years.5. The applicants should agree to stay as an aupair in Austria for at least 6 months.6. They have not been previously convicted.7. Unmarried and no children.

THE AU-PAIRS’ TASKS: 20-30 hours work per week Additionally 2-3 times per week babysitting in the evening The main tasks are looking after the children plus housework The au-pair should be flexible and should try to integrate him or herself into the family The aupairs pay the visa and the travel costs themselves The aupairs pay the accident – and health insurance themselves (about € 43,- per month)

THE AU-PAIRS GET: € 357,74 + € 89,43 = € 447,17 pocket money per month The aupairs work 20 hours per week, maximum 3 times babysitting in the evening per week, The family pays half of the language course costs – It is very important that the girls attend a

language course during the first 6 months of their stays The au-pair gets an own room 3 meals per day, also on work free days At least one work free day per week 25 days (5 weeks) paid vacation

THE COSTS:

Translation of documents(Birth certificate, police letter, official confirmation of residence) variable

Visa – only for Non-EU-Aupairs (Non-EU-aupairs coming from several countries do not need this visa) 75 Euros

FOR ALL AUPAIRS FROM A NON-EU-COUNTRYDocuments for the work permit and visa/residence permit:

1. a German diploma, translated in German or English

2. a criminal report from the country of origin legalized and translated into German or English

3. the Birth Certificate legalized and translated into German or English

4. official confirmation of residence legalized and translated into German or English

Candidates who are currently working in other countries (e.g. Germany) can come directly to Austria. In this case, they need additionally

5. a criminal report from the current country of residence (e.g. from Germany)

Important please read!!! Legalizations:

All documents have be legalize first and then translated in to German or English. Depending on the nationality of the Aupairs, it is necessary

1. An Apostille or

1. A legalisation from the ministery of foreign affaire in the home country and afterwards

2. A legalisation at the Austrian embassy in the home country.

The visa takes about 8 till 10 weeks.FOR ALL AUPAIRS FROM A `NEW´-EU-COUNTRY

Documents the Aupairs need for the work permit:

a German diploma, translated in German or English a criminal report from the country of origin, translated into German or English

FOR ALL AUPAIRS FROM A `FORMER´-EU-COUNTRY a criminal report from the country of origin, translated into German or EnglishThis document needn’t to be legalised.

HOW TO APPLY:Please fill in the application carefully and add all documents which are mentioned in the checklist.

Usually it takes us 1-2 months to find a matching family. We kindly ask our applicants to be flexible and to accept at minimum 2 children and to take care of (almost) any ages, to accept other areas in Austria than the biggest cities etc. Drivers and non smokers all welcomed!

We have also a lot of families who need EU-aupairs only for 4- 6 months, during a winter or summer season. These families live in beautiful areas (winter-ski-ressort or big lakes) in Austria and they are working in a hotel or restaurant. Aupairs from these families have a lot of work, lot of fun and can earn a lot of money.
