Lesson Objective (s) : By the end of the lesson pupils will be able to::i. say the phoneme /s/ correctly; and

ii. identify objects with the phoneme /s/..

Activities :

1.

Invite pupils who celebrate their birthdays on the day/ week/ month.

2. Sing the birthday song for the pupils.

3. Give them a little token (sweets/ chocolates).

4. Introduce the phoneme /s/ by showing an action. (form a cobra head with your hand).

5. Trace the letter s in the air and say /s/.

6. Demonstrate how to sound it out:

7. Pupils do the action and say /s/.

8. Pupils say /s/ is for the letter s and the letters ss.

Put up a picture chart on the board. (Appendix 1)
