TINCA

Transnational, Interactive Nano Competence Altlas

15.01.2015 Nicolas POINT 1

What is TINCA ?

15.01.2015 Nicolas POINT 2

Transnational: TINCA will regroup all competences in the partner regions and is easily extendable.

Interactive: Search and selection functions allow to easily combine search functionnalities.

Nano-Competence: Overview on players (industry, research center,...) with nano-related competences (who can construct, who can measure, who can test,...). Furthermore, TINCA also focuses on fields of application, etc.

Atlas: Refers to the fact that the competences will be displayed in a territorial context.

What is in TINCA ?

15.01.2015 Nicolas POINT 3

● Nanoplayers in each regions : Name, address, type of institution,...● Associate technical keywords for each players...

For Example : SIRRIS :

Department or group: NanomaterialsLiege Science Park, rue du Bois Saint-Jean, 12 - 4102-SERAING - Belgium (Wallonia)Contact person (by web form) – website : http://wwww.sirris.be (link is external)Industry sector: Chemistry and materials, Healthcare, Energy, Equipment engineering, Consumer productsCategory: Research (e.g. universities, research centers and institutes of technology)Areas: Chemistry, Engineering mechanics, Optical communications engineering, Optoelectronics, Sensor technology, Image processing, Fiber optics, Metrology, product development, microfabrication, nano-ink, aerosol jet printing,...Areas of expertise: Nanopowders synthesis and characterization, nano-composites, product development, nano-ink, aerosol jet printing,

Keywords ???

15.01.2015 Nicolas POINT 4

But keywords... Everyone has a different vocabulary, emphasis on details or on global competence, each sector has specific terms for specific language,...

So we develop a dedicated TAXONOMY (from Ancient Greek: τάξις taxis, "arrangement," and -νομία -nomia, "method")

Best known taxonomy is the Biological classification

TINCA taxonomy specificities

15.01.2015 Nicolas POINT 7

For nanotechnologies, at least in the frame of the NANORA project, we do not need to be as exhaustive :

What we want is to help anyone to find any nanoplayer in any competence pool in any of our regions !

We have then to take the "TINCA user" point of view... but who is the user ?

Someone searching a precise material, raw or manufactured ? Someone able to describe it exactly or through its properties ? Someone searching if there

are nanomaterials usefull in its industry sector ?

NANORA Taxonomy

15.01.2015 Nicolas POINT 8

From these point of view, we develop the taxonomy separating the classification around a few "main nodes" :

● Raw Nanomaterials;● Intermediate products;● End Markets;● Value chains● Actors.

Even with this... Here is the result ( more details available on the website)

TINCA Usage

Concrete results for TINCA available on the Nanora website

● You can search for a nanoplayer with TINCA tags

● You can refine your serach (regions,...)

● You can look at the taxonomy and extend or refine your search

● You can look at the taxonomy and find related tags to extend or refine your search using another point of view.

Next steps for TINCA?

15.01.2015 Nicolas POINT 18

From our side :

Improve taxonomy search page (soon) and Ergonomy Taxonomy graphical presentation

From your side :

Use it and give us feedback Tags of your company : Please correct/complete/propose/refine Taxonomy in itself : New tags, links between tags, structure,... Any other proposal around this classification or tools that can be useful
