We as an industry are more focused on Business outcomes than ever before. I manage a $179M services business serving the Federal Government Civilian Agencies, NGO’s and SI’s which includes consulting services and support. My job is to develop a customer centric organization that enables relevant innovation for customers. As GM I cultivate organizational innovation by encouraging risk taking and build diverse teams to contribute to innovative thinking. It is my responsibility to plan and develop the Services Strategy, and reinvent it, as needed to ensure the organization adapts to market changes. I am accountable for the strategic investment in, and optimal allocation of resources to support the changing nature of the business. A GM must effectively manage complex change, while handling ambiguity and delivering business results. I have managed tactical and Strategic remediation efforts for Cyber Security breaches at Dept. of State, Postal, EOP and others, the Civilian Team lead sales and implementation of O365 and we lead in Systems center and infrastructure implementations as Region of the year in FY14. In FY15 Fed Civ exceeded $100M New Work Sold for the first time. In the last five years I have managed Fed Civ it has grown from $76M to $179M, over $100M. Selected Accomplishments

Microsoft Corporation, General Manager Federal Civilian Services, NGO’s & SI’s 2010 to PresentThe GM has direct responsibility for Services Delivery to Federal Civilian Agencies, NGO’s and SI’s. The Services Sales Manager has dotted line responsibility to the GM. During my almost 5 years New Work Sold has grown 265% and Service Delivery has grown 222%. The organization currently employs a little over three hundred Consultants, Support personnel and Sales Executives. Groups reporting directly to me include Practice Managers, Program managers, Consultants, Technical Account Managers, PFE’s (technology experts), CTO, Architects, MA (Managing Architect), Enterprise Strategy Team, and the Public Sector Cloud organization (responsibility across Public Sector for Cloud Services).

The GM is responsible for the overarching strategy for Federal Civilian Services, as well as, the primary steward for a positive end-to-end Customer experience. A personal goal is to be recognized for building high-performing, agile teams that deliver results and embrace change. It is my responsibility to ensure that measures are in place to empower Services teams to function as One Services and to create an inclusive work environment where every employee can effectively engage, and wants to be part of the team. I am proud of the strong and effective leadership team we have built and that Federal Civilian is seen as a destination of choice for Microsoft services people.

Two years ago I launched our Public Sector Women’s group (PSW) that has grown to over 100 members and is now seen as the model for Women’s groups across Microsoft. I also launched a Hispanic Latino group (HLPS) that has a highly effective “guest speaker” series focused on leadership development attracting almost 200 people at each event. Federal Civilian has continued to grow in diverse representation becoming increasing representative of our customer base.

A General Managers responsibility also includes development of streamlined processes. As such I have represented Public Sector in the effort to rebuild our internal financial systems for Services (DAX) based on the Microsoft ERP system known as Dynamics AX. I have led the team in defining system requirements and Business Intelligence data access.

I have played a key role in shaping the rapidly evolving federal shared services strategy. As one of a select group of industry partners invited to participate on the first Federal CIO Council Subcommittee on IT Shared Services and as the senior Microsoft representative to the Subcommittee, I helped develop the federal government “Shared Services Implementation Plan”. I then became a lead advocate and founding partner in the establishment of a transformative OMB-Partnership for Public Service “Shared Services Round Table” initiative that has now established itself as the premier body providing thought leadership and vision for an open, competitive public-private marketplace for shared service. I am also a founding member of the new Shared Services Leadership Coalition that is providing Congressional representatives and their staff with information on federal shared services activities and highlighting the opportunities for significant return on investment through shared services legislation that will accelerate the utilization of shared services, both public and private, by the federal government.

Microsoft products are pervasive in almost every Federal Civilian Agency, NGO and SI. As General Manager I have responsibility for Microsoft services that touch far too many accounts to list but some of the major accounts include VA, SSA, CMS, USDA, FAA, DOS, Commerce (including Census), USPS, World Bank, UN, Raytheon, Northrop, BAE, EPA, Fed Reserve, FDIC, etc…
