1 Introduction

It seems that everywhere we look today things are moving faster and faster.Everyone is looking for that shortcut. Even in the way we talk we look to speed

things up. Slang, contractions, and acronyms are seen and heard everywhere. Itis with the acronyms, however, that most people become confused. Every sectorof our lives has its own acronyms. Nowhere, however, are they more prevalent

than in the work place; and today’s telecommunications industry is noexception. The Vocabulary that follows is a list of telecommunicationsacronyms and their meaning.

In some cases only the words that the letters of the acronym represent will be

provided; others will go into more detail. Some acronyms have more than onemeaning. In those cases an attempt has been made to provide both meanings.

Note

In no way is this document intended to be all-inclusive, nor should it be taken

as the ultimate word. It is intended to be used as a quick reference guide to helpyou become familiar with telecommunication terminology.

We at Nokia hope you will find it useful.
