TEACHING & COURSES
“Practicum Sessions” – An innovative methodology
for delivering Online Sessions by domain experts for
ICP in CSR course
National Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility has launched its 5th batch of 9-
month Online Certificate program (ICP) in CSR. The course is envisaged to enable the
learner to redefine Corporate Social Responsibility as an integral part of the value creation
purpose of the organization. The course provides theoretical and practical concepts in
CSR, that illustrates the vast potential that CSR has in improving communities and to
create awareness of pitfalls as well. The ICP in the CSR course is delivered through virtual
classroom interactions through Blackboard (LMS). In order to give the participants the
industry perspective/practical understanding of the subject matter, an innovative
methodology of “Practicum” has been adopted by IICA, wherein we invite eminent domain
experts from the Industry, Practitioners, and Academicians to share their experiences,
opinions, and understanding of the domain.
Two such Practicum sessions were held on September 15 and September 22, 2019, Mr.
Pradeep Bhargava, President Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture,
MCCIA, took an online practicum session on Blackboard on September 15, 2019, on
“Gandhi’s Doctrine of Trusteeship”. Mr. Pradeep Bhargava, in his session clearly explained
Gandhi’s Doctrine of Trusteeship and established its relevance in CSR with suitable
examples.
On September 22, 2019, a practicum session on “Legal Obligations of CSR and
Accounting Treatment of CSR”, was delivered by Ms. Seema Rath, Deputy Director, MCA.
The session proved to be insightful as participating delegates could get clarity both on the
intent as well as the law itself.
The 67 candidates pursuing the course have highly appreciated the Practicum and
Reinforcement sessions that are being held on weekends on a regular basis. They have
expressed that the revision of the course content and the course progression, has made
the journey of learning exciting. They have stated that right from the orientation to the
subsequent sessions and assignments, the revised content has been found to be brief and
precise, which is highly appreciable, as most of the candidates are heavily engaged in their
own jobs. The Practicum and the Reinforcement sessions have made learning exciting and
engaging.
