We have pushed our interiors a step beyond. Malibu dashes are not just a standard feature anymore, they are a showcase detail. Individually hand-wrapped and avail-able in 12 color combinations, the 2005 dashes are a style statement. The passenger side dash in the 21.5 footers has been built up, hand-wrapped and hollowed out to house a huge 1.5 cubic foot locking storage cubby complete with a 12-volt power point and a slip-less rubber mat. We have thought of everything.

one. The new standard fl ip-up bolster seat elevates the driver to a new vantage point, increases visibility and re-moves all doubt when obstacles come into question on the water. Safety is always foremost in our minds.

two. Our new billet dash insert is machined from a solid piece of aluminum, then chromed. Now standard in all Wakesetter series models, it is a shining demonstration of the level of refi nement to which Malibu has ascended with the 2005 model line up. It may seem like just a small detail, but at Malibu superior craftsmanship knows no boundaries.

STRENGTH. IT COMES FROM WITHIN.

A fi ne exterior is only half the story of an exceptional boat. It’s only complete when what doesn’t show equals the quality of what does. In the case of Malibu Boats, what you don’t see is the patented Fiberglass Engine Chassis System (FibECS). FibECS is chemically bonded to the inte-rior of the hull at a molecular level with Weld-On®, to achieve unibody construction. The engine is through-bolted, not tap mounted, directly to FibECS at eight separate attachment points to in-sure level, vibration-free engine operation and to disperse load equally over a greater area. We refuse to compromise the structural integrity of your boat. FibECS also uses active air induction to funnel clean, cool air to the engine for increased performance. It shelters the boat’s wiring looms from the extremes of a marine environment. Proven innovations like this have made Mal-ibu Boats the number one tow boat manufacturer in the world with zero failures of more than 24,000 FibECS reinforced Malibu boats in operation today.

Laminates.

From multiple layers of hand laid bi-directional and tri-directional fi berglass to the industry-leading ceramic coring, Malibu boats are built to extremes using the fi nest materials available.

We are not willing to relinquish control over the design and construction of signature elements. Malibu’s patented swivel-head pylon, like many other key Malibu parts, is built in house by Malibu employee-owners to guarantee reliabil-ity and improve production effi ciency. Tested to resist up to 2,000 pounds of pull, the swivel-head pylon extends the life of your rope by swiveling with the slalom skier at the command of a dual needle bearing core. Available in chrome or standard brushed aluminum, the swiv-el-head pylon is just another example of Malibu construction, a step beyond.

Our close working relationship with Medallion Instrumentation has allowed Malibu Boats to produce one of the most visible and accurate gauge clusters in the industry. Measuring 5 inches in diameter, these Malibu/Medallion gauges are servo driven for extreme accuracy and constructed to stand the test of time. En-circled with a stylish chrome bezel these eye-catching gauges supply up-to-the-second information.

Malibu’s exclusive hydrofoil technology, the Wedge, is more convenient to use than portable ballast for hull displacement, and safer. Creating approximately 1000-pounds of down force on-demand, the Wedge has played a pivotal part in securing Malibu four of the last fi ve “Towboat of the Year” awards. Recognized as “Impact Design of the Year” by one wakeboard-ing magazine, the Wedge increases the wake without adding weight, without exceeding your boat’s weight capacity limits and without a signifi cant decrease in handling. Every Malibu boat is primed for peak performance right off the fac-tory fl oor with a custom calibrated Indmar engine. Built to exceed the highest industry benchmarks for horse power and torque, each engine is rigorously tested on a dyno, before it is installed. These tests verify calibration and push the engine to the levels required of the world’s top performing water sports tow boat.

one. The 320 LCR (320 HP) is the new multi-port fuel injected standard in Malibu’s engine line-up,. Malibu ‘standard’ means power. With 320 horses and 375 foot-pounds of torque, its core is the latest Delphi ECM (engine computer module) running the latest software, all custom-calibrated by Indmar. The 320 LCR is programmed to deliver the power band skiers and riders want, plus the classic turn-key starts, unhesitating dependability and fuel effi ciency that only Indmar’s MPI can deliver. This engine offers Vortec’s high-fl ow cylinder heads with straighter intake ports for more power, and roller valve lifters for reduced friction and improved performance. Like all Indmar engines, it is built for the long run.

two. The Monsoon 340 (340 HP) delivers out of the hole power with 390 foot-pounds of torque. This muscular machine is a customized version of GM’s Vortec 5700 and is specifi cally designed to push Malibu’s performance hulls. The Indmar ETX one-piece tuned exhaust manifolds prove this point. Match that with the high-lift roller cam and free-breathing Vortec heads and you have one of the most powerful, dependable small blocks, ever built. Operating under the precise control of an Indmar custom cali-brated ECM, Monsoon 340 delivers a tall, broad power curve that meets the demands of discriminating water sports competitors.

three. The New Hammerhead 383 (400 HP) is a “stroker” engine and the most powerful 5.7L small-block V8 ever developed for inboard use. When the hammer falls this engine cranks out 400 horse power and 420 foot-pounds of torque. Capped with Malibu’s exclusive intake plenum, the new Hammerhead sports Indmar’s high-fl ow multi-port induction system, GM’s famed FastBurn aluminum heads and an aggressive Indmar-spec cam combined with 1.6:1 roller rockers for less friction, more power. Add Indmar’s ETX performance exhaust manifolds along with Indmar’s custom ECM calibration and you can’t lose.

four. The Malibu Corvette LS1 (375 HP) is the fi rst-ever marinization of the aluminum Gen III GM engine types. A Malibu/In-dmar collaborative development, it delivers 9% more overall power than the automotive version, thanks to Indmar’s proprietary ECM calibration and its unique Tri-Y, dyno-tuned exhaust system that virtually eliminates backpressure. The Malibu Corvette LS1 puts out 375 horses and 390 foot-pounds of torque with a tall and broad power band. This aluminum engine is fuel effi cient, low in mass and offers the effi ciency of closed cooling.

fi ve. The Vortec 8100 (425 HP) is the “baddest” boy on the block-- big block that is. Its 496 cubic-inch stature houses as much as 450 horse power and 525 foot-pounds of torque. 9.1:1 high-compression Vortec heads turn out more usable power from every fuel charge with their straight fl owing matched port design. The MPFI aluminum intake manifold bolsters cylinder-to-cylinder airfl ow distribution to achieve cleaner, more dependable combustion. Finely tuned plenum runners and the coil-near-plug ignition system (distributorless) enhance the already massive low-end torque, while delivering awesome power to top-end.

Gorilla Fins were designed for Malibu’s powerful line of V-drive boats. These monstrous 120 square-inch fi ns plunge deep into the water beneath the boat and offer an oversized surface area to allow a level of tracking and handling only matched by Direct-Drive boats. The sheer size and design of these fi ns steadies the boat and creates a rock solid center pivot point, thereby improving turning radius and overall maneuverability even with a rider cutting hard behind the boat.

All Malibu boats are born to perform, but the goal is not just high performance. It is on-demand, consistent, controllable yet unrestrained performance. We have no tolerance for half measures. Find control exactly the way you want it with Malibu’s new Adjustable Rudder. It is a versatile innovation for those who are serious about their slalom, but do not want to sacrifi ce a fi nger-tip controlled leisurely cruise. Exclusive to Malibu, this adjustable load rudder is standard on all models and can be adjusted with the quick turn of an Allen screw. Set it to neu-tral for a “no load” day of wakeboarding and running the lake. When it is time to run the course, customize the load in either direction for the perfect pull.

Ballast Monitoring System.

Malibu, in partnership with Medallion Instrumentation, has de-veloped a new Ballast Monitoring System (BMS), standard in Wakesetter VLX, Wakesetter LSV and Wakesetter 23XTi. The BMS extends the benefi t of the Malibu Launch System (MLS). Ballast tanks are measured in quarter tank increments and can be moni-tored on the LCD display in the speedometer. With as much as 1,250 lbs of ballast to keep track of, Malibu has introduced an in-dash Ballast Monitoring System (BMS) to allow riders to fi ne tune the placement of weight in each area of the boat. Riders agree, this type of detailed system information is invaluable and the fi rst of its kind in the water sports industry.

Sporting a completely rede-signed hull and deck, the Wakesetter VLX now measures a full 21' 6" from bow to transom with a 98" beam. History Rewritten Luxury is normally overlooked in a hardcore wakeboard boat. Enter the new Wakesetter VLX. The interior has been expanded to accommodate 11 people and redesigned to include panels of custom-izable accent colors that shoot through the comforting 38oz G&T upholstery. The passenger-side dash has been reshaped for 2005 to house a huge locking 1.5 cubic foot glove box which gives the dash a stylish new look, more storage and added security for valuables.

Looks can be deceiving however, as the excessive interior amenities belie the workhorse nature of the VLX. Topped by the new Titan Series III tower, the optional Illusion X or CFT Blade carbon fi ber tower, the Wakesetter VLX looks as good as it performs. one. Malibu’s engineers have turned the center-mounted engine into an asset, rather than an obstruction. Now it’s a huge sundeck that houses not only the engine, but also a 15 cubic foot storage space ideal for skis, vests, boards, backpacks, you name it. The space above the engine even has a purpose, keeping towels, wet-suits or even pizzas warm.

two. With convenience in mind, the Sunsetter 23 XTi sports two pairs of stainless steel pull-up cleats. Ideally situated for tying up to a houseboat or a dock, the cleats neatly retract when not in use. The same is true of the pop-up pylon. When not in use, it retracts so as not to interfere with interior comfort. When needed, though, it can withstand as much as 2,000 pounds of pull.
