Athletics Carnival On Monday June 3 we made the decision to postpone the Athletics Carnival due to weather advice we were receiving which indicated rain overnight and strong winds during Tuesday June 4. Wright Park where the Athletics Carnival will be held is very open with little protection and with rain overnight the ground would be very wet. We contacted the council to postpone the carnival to Thursday June 6 however the oval was booked for that day. The only day available to us this week was Wednesday June 5. I sincerely apologise for any inconveniences this has caused. We look forward to a fun Athletics Carnival on Wednesday. Arrangements for lunch orders will proceed as before. A small canteen will operate on the day to purchase refreshments ( tea, coffee, muffins etc ) sausage sandwiches will also be available for sale. Absences If your child is going to be away please contact the school via phone or on the school e-mail queanbeyaw-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au. A written note may also be given to the teacher. Tickets for the Choral Festival will go on sale

this Thursday 30 May 2019 at 10.00am at the Q in Queanbeyan (phone: 6285 6290). Get in early to avoid the disappointment of missing out. P and C Meeting. The P and C meeting for June will be held on Tuesday 11 June. The meeting will be held in the school staff room commencing at 6.30pm to 8.00pm. All parents and friends welcome to attend. Debating Report

On Wednesday 29th May the Queanbeyan West Bunyips debated against the Queanbeyan West Dingos. The topic for the debate was: Teachers should have to participate in all school sport.

The Dingos were the affirmative team (agreeing with the topic) and the Bunyips the negative team (disagreeing with the topic). In preparation time both teams worked well getting their arguments ready. All speakers had fun and tried their hardest, however in the end the Bunyips won the debate. Afterwards both teams celebrated the debate to mark their first formal debate of the competition.

Overall it was an amazing day!

CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS

Brrrr! Winter certainly hit us a bit early this year, hey … The July holidays, which are fast approaching us,

are set to be a chilly two weeks according to the

Bureau of Meteorology. So, why not stave off the

cold, Winter days, stay inside nice and warm, curled

up with a great book from our Book Fair. Come and

pop into the school library to check out some

fantastic new books and much-loved favourites. Our

Queanbeyan West PS Book Fair is on Thursday 6

June from 3:15 – 6pm. The children will be

completing ‘wish lists’, so please keep an eye out for

them for inspiration.

The amazing books at our Book Fair are an

awesome way to escape to another place. Perhaps a

fun, sun-drenched, sand-filled, shark-infested

(Oops, sorry about that) beach full of hot books,

where students (and parents) can catch the reading

waves!

There will be book vouchers and other prizes to be

won.

Dear Families,

We are excited to be taking part in the 2019 Woolworths Earn & Learn program. During the previous campaign, we were able to purchase some great resources with the points we earned, thanks to you. We have reached the half way point of the promotion, and are close to reaching half of our total goal.

It is easy to get involved. From now until June 25th 2019, you can collect stickers at Wooloworths that go towards Earn & Learn points. For every $10 you spend at Woolworths (excluding the purchase of tobacco, liquor and gift cards), you will receive a sticker. These stickers can then be given to your

children to collect on a special sticker sheet (available at the school office). Once it is completed, they can simply bring it back here to school or you can drop them into your local Woolworths collection box.

The more points we earn, the more we can redeem from a choice of over 10,000 educational resources including mathematics and English resources, art & crafts materials and much, much more. We are grateful for your support and look forward to a successful program. If you have any questions, please ask at School.
