When creating their performances, our students had to: Understand the learning journey students take at Strathfieldsaye Primary School Come up with effective ways to tell everyone else about their journey Ensure their performance would entertain an audience from a wide range of age groups Use their skills, strengths and interests in creating a unique way to demonstrate how the learner profile is part of our learning journey The Year 5-6 students would love you to come a see their performances as they launch the Strathfieldsaye Primary School Learner Profile on Thursday 23rd June from 9am to 4:30pm. These performances will be held at various times throughout the day in a number of locations in the school. A program outlining the details of each performance was emailed to all our families yesterday. Please make your way to as many different performances as you can and show your support for the great work our students have done in preparation for this launch. Foundation Students Model our New Uniforms ~ At our School Assembly last Friday, our Student Leadership Team and Junior School Council members invited our Foundation (Prep) students to hold a little ‘fashion parade’ in order to model how wonderful our new school uniform looks and they took the opportunity to encourage everyone to wear their new school uniform when they start back at school next term. These students are such great role models and I am very proud to have them as leaders of our school! School Review Preparations and Parent Reflections ~ Thanks so much to all the parents and community members who have contributed their thoughts and reflections on what has worked well and what hasn’t worked so well at Strathfieldsaye PS in the last 4 years. With your assistance we have been able to gather together the information we need to prepare an accurate Self-Evaluation of our school’s achievements. In early August, our School Review Panel will meet with an independent reviewer and some challenge partners to discuss our Self- Evaluation and to initiate conversations around the development of our new 2017- 2020 Strategic Plan. If you would like to learn more about this process, please feel free to contact me. BSE Athlete Development Program ~ An invitation has been extended to all Grade 6 students who are interested in the BSE Athlete Development Program at Bendigo South East College, to attend some "Come and Try" sessions on Monday 20th June and Wednesday 22nd June from 6.45am – 8.15am. For more information please contact BSE College. Student Learning Reports and Interviews ~ As I mentioned last week, on Thursday 24th June, your children will be bringing home their Learning Portfolio which will contain samples of the work they have completed throughout the term. Your child’s Semester One report will also be available on Compass for you to view or download on this day. During the second week of Term Two, we will be holding our Student Learning Interviews. These interviews are a very important part of our reporting process and they allow time for you and your child to talk with the classroom teacher about your child’s current academic achievements and to outline your child’s learning goals for the remainder of the year. This year, registration for the interviews will be managed though our Compass platform. Special Religious Instruction (SRI) Lunch Time Activity ~ After receiving a number of enquiries from parents, students and community members over the last few weeks, I am very pleased to be able to offer our students the opportunity to attend a 30min lunch-time SRI activity session once a week, starting in Term 3. The SRI Lunch Time Activity Session will be led by Mrs. Jess Hollows, who has a long association with our school, and it will be supervised by me, or by other teacher volunteers. If your child would like to attend the SRI Lunch Time Activity Session, please fill in the Permission Form which will be housed on Compass, or ask your child to collect a form from the Office. End of Term - Assembly and Early Dismissal ~ As next Friday 24th June is the last day of school for Term 2, we will be holding our assembly at 9.15am, instead of the normal 2.30pm timeslot. To ensure that we don’t use up too much precious learning time, we will be shortening our assembly by only presenting our Special Awards. We will be saving the presentation of our class awards until next term. Please note that students will be dismissed from school at 2:30pm next Friday. For all bus travellers, the school buses will leave an hour earlier than normal. School resumes again after the holiday break on Monday 11th July. Regards, Cindi Bruechert [email protected]
