M0 – Work CentersThis table lists areas where work can be performed on the shop floor. It can also relate a work center to a cost center, however we are currently not using cost centers in ERP. This list has a 1-to-1 relationship with the cost centers provided by the accounting department. It also defines how much to calculate for WIP when the WIP is calculated by a percentage of sales. This is the Work Center button in Work Cycles.

Enter in the Center code and the Description

Choose if the department is Internal or External

If applicable, choose a Cost Center by clicking on the Search button

The WIP Sequence determines the order in which the work centers will be displayed in the WIP Report.

Enter in a Brief WIP description

Enter in the WIP evaluation % by sales price for this work center.

M3 – Works CodesThis table lists the generic type of work that can be performed on the work phase. It also controls the G/L account, determines the cost type for the phase and defines the Quality Control Operation Code that will be required on the phase. It also determines if this step commits the materials or makes the end item available. Enter a Work code and Work description. The description should be a general process description.Page 1Choose if the work is Internal or ExternalIf applicable, chose a G/L Account by clicking on the Search buttonThe Scraps control phase (prod700) allows a scrap quantity to be recorded at this step; moves the scraped quantity to the scraped blades warehouse. This should to 0 for No, unless this is the last work code in a work cycle. The Phase with automatic closing when subsequent phase starts should be set to 0 for No.The Work for final test (prod700) should be set to 0 for No.The next field determines if the work code is active (0) or Inactive (1) and should be 0The Work cost type defines how the activity will be costed:

1. Human and machine work Labour cost = 0: Actual Cost based on time recorded by an operator. This is for all hands on-time operations and operations where the operator is using the machine, such as APS Coating. This will also be used for Heat Treating

2. “COST BY ITEM”: Fixed Cost per Piece. This should be used for External Operations where we are charged a standard cost.

3. “SETUP COST”: This is not used in Italy. Without labor cost. Takes the works effective costs list only.

4. “SETUP COST”: Fixed Machine Cost per Piece that doesn’t depend on time or quantity. This should be used for setup operations, such as APS Setup.

Page 2 This page can be skipped, as none of this information is required.

Page 3The Efficiency type is used to determine how the work will be costed. If the work cost type field is 1, then this value should be 1 for quantity per hour. If the work cost type field is 2 or 4, then this field should be 3 for fixed time. The value of 2 is used for costing based on a ‘production lot’ of items and therefore should not be used.

The Phase with materials commitment start should be set to 0 for No, unless this is the first work phase of a work cycle. Then it should be set to 1 for Yes.

The Phase with end item availability should be set to 0 for No, unless this is the last work phase of a work cycle. Then it should be set to 1 for Yes.

The Quality Control Op Code must be set to a quality control operation that relates to the work center. This will be used during the production detecting to determine what types of quality control rules will be applied.

Click on Ok when finished.
