THE THERMAL WATERS

The thermal waters of the Bagni di Pisa springs, known and used by people as long ago as the Etruscans and Romans, are rich in sulphur, calcium and magnesium, and flows from the ground at a temperature of 37°C. They are used without any kind of chemical or physical treatment to alter their natural constitution. The microbiological purity is guaranteed by the depth of the sources and the continuity and capacity of the flow.

A distribution system delivers the water to the various areas of the spa: the thermal pools, the mud baths, the inhalation therapy areas and the therapeutic baths.The ancient practise of visiting the spa is known as “passare le acque”, and is recommended today more than ever for its ability to enable the organism to maintain a healthy state for longer.The waters of Bagni di Pisa, in virtue of their chemical-physical properties, are particularly recommended for the prevention, cure, and rehabilitation of many chronic and degenerative pathologies of the muscles and bones, the respiratory system and the skin.

Alongside the thermal treatments, our spa experience is completed by beauty treatments, thermal cosmetology, and beauty medicine, oriental disciplines, fitness, and masso-physiotherapy.

All activities are supervised and coordinated by the spa’s medical team, consisting of specialists in hydrology medicine, dietology, and dermatology.

BIOAQUAM THERMAL POOL

Pool of hot spring water with natural bicarbonate- sulphate-calcium-magnesium content, fed directly from the source with any chemical treatment. The water emerges at the source at a temperature of 38 °C. The Bioaquam pools unite the health benefits of the natural spring water with those of hydro-massage. In the correct order, the treatments have a therapeutic effect on the circulatory and musculoskeletal system: treatments include sculpt hydro-massage for body toning, hydro-massage for lymphatic draining, and hydro-massage of the glutei and lumbar region.

THE THERMAL TREATMENTS

THERMAL MUD

Mature thermal mud is made by mixing natural clays with the spring water, and matures for at least six months. The mixture is heated to 47°C and then fed directly to the treatment cabins. Application of mud induces perspiration with a detoxifying effect, reduces inflammations, and favours oxygenation of the tissues. The treatment also has a decontracting and analgesic effect.

THERMAL HYDRO MASSAGE

Treatment of the vascular system. The thermal water and underwater hydro massage stimulate microcirculation and cellular metabolism.

THERMAL BATH

Bath in thermal water at 38° C. The heat helps alleviate muscular tensions.

THERMAL GROTTO

A suggesting steam bath at 38° C in a small natural thermal grotto, where you can also bathe in hot spring water. It reequilibrates body and mind, regulates blood pressure and fosters sweating by eliminating toxins from the body.

HIMALAYAN PINK SALT

Himalayan Pink is a pure, hand mined salt found deep within the pristine Himalayan Mountains. The crystals range in color from white to varying shades of pink and red, indicating a beneficial amount of trace elements.

RED HAWAIIAN SALT

Alaea is traditional Hawaiian table salt rich in trace minerals also found in sea water. This salt is enriched with the iron oxide of harvested red ‘Alaea clay.

BLUE PERSIAN SALT

Persian blue salt is a rare, coarse Iranian variety, studded with sapphire-colored rock crystals. It is extracted from mines of pure, unpolluted crystalized sea salt which have formed over 260 million years.

CYPRUS BLACK LAVA

Cyprus Black Lava is Mediterranean flake salt mixed with activated charcoal. The beautiful color is not the only benefit that the charcoal adds. It also gives it a unique taste and acts as a natural detoxifier.

FLEUR DE SEL OF CAMARGUE

Fleur De Sel is collected from the very top layer of the famous French salt ponds and is known as the “caviar” of salts.

PURPLE INDIAN KALANAMAK SALT

This salt is composed largely of sodium chloride, nevertheless its colour and smell are mainly due to its sulfur content. The presence of Greigite (Fe3S4, Iron sulfide) forms brownish pink to dark violet salt.
