When it’s time to set up a rallying project at Saint-Pierre et des Sentiers high school, you can restassured that Jérémy Boulanger-Bonnelly will be thefirst to rise to the challenge. For the youngSecondary 4 student, commitment isn’t just secondnature, it’s a whole way of life.

Between the piano lessons he’s been taking for nineyears, athletic training twice a week and inter-school tournaments on weekends (he is goalkeeperfor the school soccer team), rehearsals with theschool band as well as with the Stage Band in whichhe plays trumpet and piano, the four or fivecommittees he is involved with and of course hisrole as student council president, JérémyBoulanger-Bonnelly still manages to find time tosteadfastly pursue his studies. The proof: hemaintains a 98% grade average.

“Multidisciplinary commitment is fantastic,” hestates quite simply. “It enables me to be versatileand to have a global perspective of the worldaround me, and not only of my speciality.”

And merely putting in a token appearance is simply out of the question. On the contrary,more often than not, Jérémy is the one at the helm in the various groups he is associatedwith, demonstrating his strong leadership abilities while giving those around him plentyof room to partake in the endeavour.

“What sets Jérémy apart the most is his dynamism, leadership, resourcefulness,astounding maturity and his readiness to help others and to carry out all kinds ofprojects. He is open, honest and responsible to an extent rarely seen in someone hisage. He excels at everything,” said Pascale Hémond, a teacher and the director of studentlife at Saint-Pierre et des Sentiers high school.

He gives concrete expression to his commitment in many ways. Among other things,thanks to his involvement with the sports committee, thematic activities committee andtechnical committee, Jérémy actively contributes to organizing and setting up differentactivities so as to improve the quality of student life while helping to establish closer tiesamong the school community.

His love of the arts also led him to establish, along with three of his friends, thenon-profit organization Productions Noctem that is associated with the Jeunes leadersde Charlesbourg group. The objective of Productions Noctem, for which he created theWeb site (www.productionsnoctem.com), is to stage shows starring local up-and-comingartists and this also gives Jérémy the opportunity to get actively involved in hiscommunity. As a matter of fact, thanks to his own musical talents, he has often takenpart in concerts and has even participated twice in the prestigious Canadian MusicCompetition, in 2006 and 2007.

In a desire to leave a lasting legacy at his high school, Jérémy recently worked intensivelyto set up of a student radio station in the Saint-Pierre building. He also invested longhours to help establish the brand new student coffee shop, which opened its doors inJanuary 2008.

“Whether in the field of the arts, sports, sciences or education, I’ve always wanted toknow all there is to know and above all to help as much as I can. I believe that the mostimportant thing is to be happy in what we do and to be able to find a balance that bestsuits our personality”, the young student concluded.
