Target group• Forestry officials, representatives of the private sector

and civil society organizations • Persons involved in timber trade, control tasks and

legal/governance aspects of forestry• Persons who play/might play a role in FLEGT VPA

processes or other processes related to timber legality assurance and improved governance


Objectives• Enhance the capacity of ASEAN Member States (AMS), in particular the

Mekong countries, to develop and implement Timber Legality Assurance Systems based on the ASEAN framework and the FLEGT VPA initiative

• Exchange practical experience on VPAs and timber legality assurance between AMS

• Increase multi-stakeholder collaboration amongst AMS on forestry issues

• Contribute to the development of an ASEAN position on timber legality and associated trade
