    Step 1

    Check the cutter for completeness, oil leaksand damage. Do not use the cutter if it leaksor is damaged, and contact the Holmatrodealer.

    Check general condition of the cutter.Clean/dry the tool with soft cloth.

    Check the attachment of the carrying handle.If necessary, fasten it firmly by tightening thewing screw.

    Step 2

    Check coupler(s) and dust cap(s) for damage,dirt and/or oil leakage.

    Clean coupler(s) with a clean and soft cloth, ifnecessary with water and soap.

    If necessary grease with hydraulic oil or useWD-40.

    Check functioning coupler(s) (see page 13).

    Reconnect loose dust cap(s) to coupler(s).

    Step 3

    Check the functioning of the control handle, itmust automatically return to its neutralposition.

    Contact the Holmatro dealer if the handledoes not work properly.

    Step 4 (only for pigtail connection)

    Check the back of the control handle for oil,this will indicate that the safety valve has beenactivated during use (return line of the toolwas not connected properly to the returnline ofthe pump).

    Clean the deadmans handle internally byblowing compressed air in the back of thehandle.

    Check the hose for damage.

    Step 5

    Check the presence of the lock-nut.

    Check if the upper moving part can movefreely. If not see page 8 step 9 to adjust.

    Step 6

    Clean the blades after use.

    Check the blades for damage, removeupsettings on the blades. Use a file andabrasive paper.

    Blades can be turned one time 120.

    Replace, or turn blades 120 when blades aredamaged.

    See page 7 replacing the blades to replacethe blades.

    Lubricate the blades after use withpreservative oil WD-40.

    Step 7

    Check the presence of both locking screws.

    Both lock bolts should be tightened firmly.

    Step 8

    The best cutting results are obtained if theblades (jaw opening) are open 0.5 mm to 1mm at the end of the cutting movement.

    See page 9 Adjusting the plunger stroke toadjust the plunger stroke.

    Step 9

    Spray Teflon lubricating oil on and betweenthe moving parts of the centre bolt B while thetool is opening and closing (cover not shown).

    Step 10

    Clean/dry the tool with soft cloth beforestoring it.

    Lightly oil steel parts with preservative oilWD-40.

    Store the cutter in a dry and well-ventilatedarea.

    Do not fully close the cutter, always keep afew mm for opening, so that the tool can bestored without pressure.

    Check the operation of the tool by opening

    and closing the cutter 2 times. No cracking sounds can be heard.

    Check the tool for damage and leaking. If thetool doesnt work properly and/or leaks,contact the Holmatro dealer.

    Step 2

    Check coupler(s) and dust cap(s) for damage,

    dirt and/or oil leakage. Clean coupler(s) with a clean and soft cloth, if

    necessary with water and soap.

    If necessary grease with hydraulic oil or useWD-40.

    Check functioning coupler(s) (see page 13).

    Reconnect loose dust cap(s) to coupler(s).

    Step 3

    Check whether the deadmans handle returnsto its neutral position.

    Check the operation of the deadmans handle.Have the Holmatro dealer repair thedeadmans handle if it doesnt functionproperly.

    Step 4 (only for tools with pigtail hoses)

    Check pigtail hose(s) and mounting of thecouplers.

    Replace the pigtail hose when:o damages are visibleo the steel inner layer is visibleo blisters are visibleo obvious traces of kinks are visibleo

    cuts are visibleo protection spring is not mounted well

    Step 5

    Check the presence of the lock-nut.Check if the upper moving part can move

    freely. If not, see page 8 step 9.

    Step 6

    Check the carrying handle for damage.Replace a damaged carrying handle.

    Check the attachment of the carrying handle.If necessary, fasten it firmly by tightening thewing screw.

    Check general condition cutter.

    Check for oil leakage. Repair when leaking. Check readability model and serial number.

    Check condition of protective cover.

    Replace the cover when:o Tears are such that the operator can

    get trapped between moving parts.o Warning pictograms are illegible.

    Step 2

    Check coupler(s) and dust cap(s) for dirt

    and/or oil leakage. Clean coupler(s) with a clean and soft cloth, if

    necessary with water and soap.

    If necessary grease with hydraulic oil or useWD-40.

    Check functioning coupler(s) (see page 13).

    Reconnect loose dust cap(s) to coupler(s).

    Step 3

    Check for functioning deadmans handle. Ifhandle does not return to its neutral positionautomatically, check internally (seemaintenance deadmans handle, page 10).

    Step 4 (only for tools with pigtail hoses)

    Check pitail hose(s) and mounting of thecouplers.

    Replace the pigtail hose when:o damages are visible.o the steel inner layer is visible.o blisters are visible.o obvious traces of kinks are visible.o cuts are visible.o protection spring is not mounted well.

    Step 5

    Check and maintain the blades according tothe maintenance recommendations after usepage 2 step 6.

    Step 6

    Remove the cover.

    Check plunger for traces of leakage.

    Check blade holders for scratches and/ordamage.

    Mount the cover.

    Step 7

    Check the carrying handle for damage.Replace a damaged carrying handle.

    Check the attachment of the carrying handle.

    If necessary, fasten it firmly by tightening thewing screw.

    Step 8

    Check the presence of the lock-nut.Check if the upper moving part can movefreely. If not, see page 8 step 9.

    Spray Teflon lubricating oil on and betweenthe moving parts of the centre bolt while theupper moving part is opening and closing.

    Step 1

    Clean the blades after use.

    See chapter Replacing the blades forremoving, and replacing the blades.

    Step 2

    Check the blades for damage, removeupsettings on the blades by grinding.

    Blades can be turned one time 120.

    Replace, or turn blades 120 when parts arebroken-out our are damaged.

    See page 7 replacing the blades to replacethe blades.

    Lubricate the blades after use withpreservative oil WD-40.

    Replacing the bladesWear full protective gear during maintenance !Always act according to the safety instructions as supplied with each tool !Contact the Holmatro dealer if one of the items does not work properly !

    Necessary equipment: see check list page 12.

    Step 1

    Open the blades as much as possible.

    Disconnect the tool from the pump.

    Step 2

    Remove both locking screws C.

    Remove both adjusting screws D.

    Remove both blades A+K manually.

    If it is not possible to remove the bladesmanually, follow step 7 through 10.

    Step 3 Clean the blades properly.

    The blades have 2 different lengths.

    Short blade (35mm) for the moving part ofthe cutter.

    Long blade (40mm) for the fixed part of thethe cutter.

    Clean the openings in the jaws properly.

    Step 4 If the blades are in good condition, turn them

    120. If not, install new blades.

    Blades can be turned one time.

    Position both blades with the curve of theopening pointing forward.

    If the blades cannot be mounted manually. Donot use a hammer.

    Step 5

    Put the short blade A in the moving part of thecutter head E, and the long blade K in thefixed part of the cutter head N.

    Step 6

    First tighten both adjusting screws D and thenloosen them one half turn, so the blades restloosely in the opening.

    Tighten both locking screws C firmly againstthe adjusting screws D to secure them.

    Lubricate the blades with preservative oil

    WD-40.

    Replacing the blades, continued

    Step 7

    Remove both screws L and the protectioncover M.

    Remove both screws F.

    Remove the plunger cap J.

    Remove the nut G and washer H.

    Pull the centre bolt I from the head and removethe moving part of the head E.

    Step 8

    Use a dowel A and soft hammer to remove the

    blade B. Replace the blades as described in step 3

    through 6, followed by step 9 through 10 toassemble the cutter.

    Step 9

    Put the moving part E of the cutter head on thetool and place the centre bolt I, the washer Hand the nut G.

    Screw the nut G tight enough so the movingpart can just move freely.

    Step 10

    Place the plunger cap J correctly on theplunger.

    Put both screws F in the plunger and spring,tighten them hand tight.

    Attach the protection cover M with both screwsL.

    Adjusting the plunger strokeWear full protective gear during maintenance !Always act according to the safety instructions as supplied with each tool !Contact the Holmatro dealer if one of the items does not work properly !

    Necessary equipment: see check list page 12.

    Step 1

    The best cutting results are obtained if the blades(jaw opening) are open 0.5 mm to 1 mm at theend of the cutting movement.

    Step 2

    Open the blades as much as possible.

    Disconnect the tool from the pump.

    Remove both screws L and the protection cover

    M. Remove both screws F and the spring of the

    plunger.

    Remove the plunger cap J.

    Step 3

    Use a screwdriver to adjust the adjustingscrew A to increase or decrease the stroke.

    Hold the plunger in while screwing.

    Turn the adjusting screw A counterclockwise toincrease the stroke.

    A turn of 90 makes the jaw opening 0.5 mmlarger or smaller.

    Step 4

    Place the plunger cap J correctly on theplunger. See above.

    Install both screws F and the spring in theplunger and tighten them hand tight.

    Attach the protection cover with both screws L.

    Spray Teflon lubricating oil on and between themoving parts of the centre bolt B while theupper moving part is opening and closing.

    Maintenance deadmans handleShould be carried out by a Holmatro trained and certified technician!Wear full protective gear during maintenance !Always act according to the safety instructions as supplied with each tool !

    When: - safety valve (return line failure) control handle has been activated during

    use and is still leaking oil (see picture 1 below).

    Step 1

    Clean deadmans handle internally by blowingcompressed air in the handle.

    When: function control handle is not o.k. or compressed air is not available.

    Necessary equipment: see check list page 12.

    Check the grease instruction on page 14.

    Step 1

    Disassemble cover with Allen key No. 4.

    Step 2

    Release both bolts of the handle with Allenkey No. 5, for 4000-series with Coreconnection use Allen key No. 3.

    Step 3 (only for tools with traditional pigtail hoses)

    Remove the aluminium back part, handle andspring.

    Clean all parts with a soft cloth.

    Grease all parts of the handle according to theinstruction on page 14.

    Note: Do not remove the slide of the controlvalve!

    Step 3 (only for tools with Core connection)

    Remove the aluminium ring, handle andspring.

    Clean all parts with a soft cloth.

    Grease all parts of the handle according to theinstruction on page 14.

    Note: Do not remove the slide of the controlvalve!

    Step 4

    Mount the spring in the right way.

    Step 5

    Reassemble the parts, check that the center

    pin of the handle is positioned between thetwo ends of the spring.

    Step 6 (only for tools with pigtail hoses)

    Re-assemble handle with Allen key No. 5, setthe torque of both bolts at 12 Nm.

    Step 7 (only for 4000-series tools with Coreconnection)

    Re-assemble handle with Allen key No. 3, setthe torque of both bolts at 8 Nm.

    Step 8 Re-assemble cover with Allen key No.4.

    Step 9Test the handle by opening and closing the cutter aseveral times. The handle should operate smoothly.
