Preetham Moras was just accepted into the Sport Management program for Fall 2012, but currently he is finishing up his Busi-

ness Management degree at Millersville University. Preetham is originally from Tumkur, India, but in the Summer of 2008 he

decided to come to the United States. His friends told him many positive things about Millersville University, but after the first

visit he knew this was the place for him. Below is more information about Preetham and his past life experiences.

Biggest Cultural Difference between Schools in India and the United States?

Schools in India are much stricter than in the United States. Professors are also more friendly, whereas in India, talking to and

asking a professor for help is very uncommon.

Most Memorable Accomplishments? In Millersville:

1. Winning the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Doubles Championship with teammate Drew Slocum in Fall

2010

2. Being awarded the PSAC Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week in April 2011

3. The Millersville Tennis Team winning the bid to play in the NCAA tournament

In India:

1. Winning a national tennis tournament in the junior’s category

2. Breaking in the top 10 in the national junior’s category

Part– Time Job? Preetham works in Millersville University’s information technology department as a student assistant to Barry Walton, the

academic systems specialist. He also helps maintain the website for the University’s Entrepreneur Leadership Center (ELC).

Organizations Involved with on Campus? 1. Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

2. Asian and Friends Affiliation (AFA)- Public Relations Officer

3. International Relations Club– Secretary

Languages? Preetham can read and write four languages: Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, and English

Congratulations Preetham and all our recently accepted students! We

wish you luck and see great things in your future here in the

Millersville University Sport Management program.

Jon Shehan– Head Coach of the Men’s Baseball Team at Millersville University and Current Sport Management

Graduate Student

Coach John Shehan can’t remember a time when he didn’t love playing baseball. He started playing at age four or five, played

all through middle school, high school, and then for Millersville University up until 2004. After his last season with the Ma-

rauder’s, he signed a free agent contract with the Atlanta Braves organization. During the off season, he was finishing his degree

when reality set in. His professional career was not going the way that was planned and he was not a hundred passionate about

teaching. He realized he could have the best of both worlds as a coach.

He became interim head coach in 2008, where he took a 9-37 team to their first division championship in eight years. Last sea-

son his club finished 44-12. They won the PSAC East, swept the NCAA Atlantic Regional, and reached the NCAA Division II

Championship for jus the second time in school history. Coach Shehan’s most memorable moment comes the NCAA Atlantic

Regional Championship, when Corey Phelan slammed into the wall to catch the final out. Ac-cording to Coach, Corey is possi-

bly the best defensive outfield to play at Millersville in 100 years and he was also one of the three players who went through the

9-37 2007 season.

Below is more information about Coach and his favorite things in life.

Originally from? Strasburg, PA

Most Thankful for? Having a wife and a family that are sincerely supportive.

Favorite Baseball Movie? Bill Durham.

Most Proud of? Being a dad

Favorite Place to Vacation? Rocky Mountain States
