FAVA 3.14 Describes how size, colors, lines, shapes, and textures are organized in artwork to create a focus or center of interest (emphasis).

Ongoing Art Objectives: Develop construction (cutting, gluing,

manipulating, etc.), drawing, painting, etc., skills (Application, Synthesis; ongoing objective, see art matrix).

Demonstrates proper care and safe use of art materials and tools (Application Evaluation; ongoing objective; 3.6).

Appraise/Evaluate artwork for quality (thoughtfulness & carefulness) and accuracy (following directions & project guidelines) (ongoing).

Project Specific Objectives:1. Create/Construct a Center of Interest

Diorama Collage. (Synthesis; 3.2, 3.5).2. Create/arrange/organize a scene that has

a center of interest (Synthesis; 3.14). 3. Integrate a center of interest into a

diorama scene (focus, emphasis) (Synthesis; 3.14).

4. Transform a flat shape into non-flat form.

The students are asked to observe and make comments about two scenes; one with a center of interest and one without a center of interest.

The teacher will give step by step instructions (guided practice) for the students to follow as they draw the center of interest in their scene.
