Symptom

l PM WD ABAP application configurations work correctly when executed in backend (SE80). Appraisal documents are correctly opened. l However in portal when you try to access a PM document you get one of the following errors:

n There is no iView available for system “SAP_ERP_HumanResources”: Object “employee”. For more information contact your administration. n Page does not exist or not available. n Error in Calling Up Application. The Web Dynpro application was called up with the wrong URL parameters. n No error, but when clicking on a document name nothing happens.

Environment

l SAP release ECC6 EHP4 and higher l Human Capital Management, Performance Management l Portal

Reproducing the Issue

Logon to portal:

l ESS role -> Career and Job -> Appraisal Documents -> Open a document  or l MSS role -> Talent Management -> Performance Documents -> Open a document

Cause

Configuration of OBN navigation is not correct in portal.

Resolution

This is likely an issue with OBN navigation. When running the WDs from SE80, no OBN navigation is used. This is the reason why it works fine in backend but not in portal.

Recommendations: in order to set up the navigation it is better that you first solve it independently for each role. So first just assign the ESS role to your user and Content Administration role. Once it is working, proceed with MSS role (in that case remove ESS role and assign MSS plus Content Admin).

Note: this document has been created based on standard ESS and MSS roles. If you have copied the standard content to customer specific roles you will have to adapt them accordingly.

NOTE:  In newer versions of the portal, there is a Application as OBN Target and Application as OBN Source tab for each OBN.  When an object is needed, it must be entered under the Application as OBN Target and the Application as OBN Source tab should have no object(s).

Transaction LPD_CUST: Configure launchpads HAP          HAP_GENERIC_UI and HAP PMP as explained in SAP notes  1463821 and 1520955.

1. ESS:

1.1. For PMP process:

Backend system: Transaction SM30 > Table V_T7XSSSERRES (not needed if using ESS based on WD Abap)

Check the PCD path under resource EMPLOYEE_CAREER_APPRAISAL_PMP_14. It should point to page com.sap.pct.erp.ess.documents_ee_pmp

a. Go to Content Administration. Path: portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.14.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.14.pages/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.14.career_job

Open page ‘Appraisal Documents - Predefined’ (com.sap.pct.erp.ess.documents_ee_pmp) > Object based navigation. Make sure that no operations are entered there.

b. Open page ‘Appraisal Document – Predefined Process’ (com.sap.pct.erp.ess.appraisal_document_pmp) – Enter there operation Appraisal Document (PMP) for business object Employee.

c. No operations are needed in the corresponding iviews.

d. Under the ESS role, make sure that page ‘Appraisal Document – Predefined Process’ (com.sap.pct.erp.ess.appraisal_document_pmp) is included as invisible in the role.

1.2. For Flexible process:

Backend system: Transaction SM30 > Table V_T7XSSSERRES (not needed if using ESS based on WD Abap)

b. Open page ‘Appraisal Document (WD UI)’ (com.sap.pct.erp.ess.documents_ee) – Enter there operation Appraisal Document (WD UI) for business object Employee.

c. No operations are needed in the corresponding iviews.

d. Under the ESS role, make sure that page ‘Appraisal Document (WD UI)’ (com.sap.pct.erp.ess.documents_ee) is included as invisible.

2. MSS:

2.1. For PMP process:

Portal configuration:

a. Go to Content Administration. Path:

Open page ‘Performance Management (Predefined)’ (com.sap.pct.erp.mss.performance_management) > Object based navigation. Make sure that no operations are entered there.

b. Open page ‘Appraisal Document - Predefined’ (com.sap.pct.erp.mss.appraisal_document_pmp) – Enter there operation Appraisal Document (PMP) for business object Employee.

c. No operations are needed in the corresponding iviews.

2.2. For Flexible process:

Portal configuration:

a. Go to Content Administration. Path: pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/line_manager/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.14.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.14.pages/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.hcm

Open page ‘Generic Performance Management’ (com.sap.pct.erp.mss.generic_performance_management) > Object based navigation. Make sure that no operations are entered there.

b. Open page ‘Appraisal Document’ (com.sap.pct.erp.mss.appraisal_document_wd_ui) – Enter there operation Appraisal Document (WD UI) for business object Employee.

c. No operations are needed in the corresponding iviews.

3. Further checks:

Make sure all pages are pointing to the correct iview.

If after all this navigation is still not working:

l Check note ‘1352104 - OBN action's Business Parameters don't reach AI’ is implemented’. This note corrects an issue with parameters not correctly passed in POST.

l Check notes ‘1319792 - Problems when navigating between Web Dynpro applications’ and ‘1386141 - There is no iView available for system "XYZ", object

l The problem for the non-working OBN link, could be a mixed protocol between the portal and the WDA backend system (WebAs). The Object Based Navigation framework, among other things, is based on Java Script, hence it needs that the portal and backend will have the protocol and the same domain. Please check note  ‘945516 -  Web Dynpro ABA in a portal environment’.
