CHANGES TO ADDENDUM NO 2 S-001 – NOTES

A. Insert the following notes into the Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) Wall Notes: “10. Brace load resisting (8”, 10”, 12”) CMU walls to the steel structure at the following locations

per the notes below: A. North, South, East and West Gymnasium Walls: Connect CMU to columns with webs

parallel to the CMU wall with Heckmann Building Products #195 Twisted L-Type Column Anchor, 1/8” minimum thickness. Weld column anchor to flange continuously top and bottom of anchor. Connect CMU to columns with webs perpendicular to the beam with Heckmann Building Products #189 L-Type Column Anchor, 1/8” minimum thickness. Column anchors shall be located at each side of each column at each bond beam. Vertical Spacing of anchors shall not exceed 4’-0”. All anchors shall be hot dip galvanized.

B. All Other Load Resisting Walls: Connect CMU to floor and roof beams with 5/8” diameter A307 headed anchor bolts with 4” embedment. Space anchors at 4’-0” on center maximum. Refer to sections for connection angles.

1. Exterior elevation drawings call out 3 types of modular brick (Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3). It appears that Type 1 is used for infills on existing building and Types 2 & 3 are used as field and accent brick respectively on the new additions. For the new additions what the mix of Type 3 accent brick in the filed brick Type 2 (ie: how many pcs / sf or percentage of face area, etc...)? Also on A-202 it talks about projects and recesses for the various bricks, is this typical in similar areas of the building? Can you please provide a section for each of these conditions?

Type 1 is also used at Ramp 1C-5, at the Weight Room A101 North Façade and at the Cafeteria 123D South Façade. There are approximately 6000 Brick Type-3 pieces. The projections depicted on A202 only occur on this facade (shown in plan on A101). Sections of this area were issued in Addendum No.1 and details of this area are in Addendum No.2. The Type 3 brick does project on the South Facade. There is a brick corbel detail with 1" projection at the window surround of the East Facade. Furthermore, the pilasters on the East facade project 3" past the window corbel surround.

2. Elevation drawing A-204 calls for a parge layer under existing stone watertable, where is this product specified?

Spec Section 03 74 10 Concrete Repairs. This parged layer should also be provided at the existing wall to remain that are being regraded (Existing Boys Gym/Fututer Café, and existing Boiler Room walls.

3. Elevation drawing A-204 and others shows exposed CIP concrete walls at stairs and ramps as well as other areas, is exposed concrete to receive a rubbed finish and if so what level of finish is required?

The finish is supposed to be a smoothe finish with recessed joints as indicated on the elevations.

4. Elevation drawing A-204 and others appears to show masonry rework around replaced windows in existing opening. Are we required to modify the opening and repair the masonry, if so please provide details?

No modifications required for window types 2, 2A, 12, 16, & 17. For Window Types 11, 11A and 18, the sill condition is modified due to new roofs and in these locations the bottom portion of the windows are infilled with masonry. The jambs and head of these latter types remain intact. See Addendum No. 5.

1. Can you provide top of wall elevations on the exterior elevation drawings so we can determine the actual height of the brick, or you will need to provide a section through each wall area so we can determine from that?

Top of wall elevations have been provided through wall sections. For the sloping façade, the top of wall elevation was provided in Addendum No.4 (ADA-017)

*1. Drawing A-101.4 Exterior Court #1 South Wall calls out section 1/A-501, is this the correct callout?

No. The correct callout is Similar 4/A501. 1/A500 is a wall section through the windows of the weight room. 1/A501 is a section through the Lobby South Façade.

*2. Can you please provide top of wall elevation for elevations 1&2/A-205?

The brick shelf begins at +6" above the courtyard elevation. Tothe top of the precast cornice from the brick shelf measures 23'-1 3/8".

*2/S200.2 calls out W8x60 beams this size does not exist and would seem to be a typo based on the adjacent framing. Please clarify beam profile to use.

The Correct size is Wx24.

1. On drawing A-101.1, First Level Floor Plan Area A. At Column line G3 and G4, the plans and structural drawings are showing I-beams. Yet the Column Schedule is calling for HSS 6x6x5/8, tube columns at G3, G4. Drawing S-102.4, Roof Framing shows an I-Beam at G2. Please Clarify.

Column G3, G4:W10X33. Column G2: HSS 6x6x5/8". Refer to Addendum No. 5 for revisions to S-102.4 and S-600.

*1. On Roof Framing Plan, S-102.1. At column line 2,G; 3,G, 4,G; the drawing shows I-Beams but the Column Schedule, S-600, is showing HSS 6x6x5/8 columns at those locations. Please Clarify.

Column G3, G4:W10X33. Column G2: HSS 6x6x5/8". Refer to Addendum No. 5 for revisions to S-102.4 and S-600.

1) On page #5, of the written portion on Addendum #3, it notes to omit specification section ‘034500 Precast Architectural Concrete’ in its entirety. Specification section ‘034500 Precast Architectural Concrete’ includes the Architectural Precast Concrete brise soleil units.

Addendum No. 4 clarified that this spec section shall remain in the bid documents.

2) Please reference plans details 1 & 2/ADA-010 from Addendum #3 and wall section 1/A-306, found in Addendum a) Will an exterior elevation be provided to show the outside of the new Security Room Addition? b) If not, is the precast base panel, found on wall section 1/A-306, running the full length of the new wall or is the panel located just below the new windows?

No elevation will be provided. The precast base panel does run the length of the elevation.

*There is a security screen spec but I do not see notes calling it out on the drawings. Are there any security screens.

There are security screens in both an alternate and base bid. Refer to Addendum No. 5 (ADA-19, ADA-020).

* I did not have the drawing A501 and A302.A501 was issued in Addendum No.1. A302 was issued in Addendum No.2.

For the ftg's on line 5.5 to 8.5 on drawing S100.4. The ftg width in sections 2/S302 and 3/S302 do not match what is shown on the plan. So could you please provide me the ftg width, reinforcing information and right sections?

Refer to Addendum No.5.

*1. Are there any details of the ladders and steps called out on the roof plan in multiple locations?

There are no details provided. The types of ladders per note 15 and 16 are specified in 05 50 00 Metal Fabrications. The distances in height between adjacent roofs served by ladders are as follows: From Roof 5 to Roof 8 = Approx. 1'-6". From Roof 5 to Roof 6 = Approx. 12'-8". Roof 8 to Roof 1 = Approx. 15'-6". From Roof 8 to Roof 11 = Approx. 2'-0". From Roof 11 to Roof 10 = Approx. 2'-6". From the Existing Boiler Room to Roof 12 = Approx. 3'-6".

*2. Is there another spec for the metal wall panels? The drawings suggest a single skin panel but the only spec calls out a 42” wide 4” thick insulated wall panel.

This was clarified in Addendum No.4. We do not have an insulated metal panel system in this project.

*3. Is the thru wall flashing to be provided by us or the mason? With base bid all we need to achieve warranty is term bar.

At masonry parapets, counter flashing from the roof to the termination bar is by the Roofing subcontractor and through wall flashing into the masonry is by the Masonry subcontractor.Refer to the specifications.

12 8/9/2017 The Whitacre Engineering Co.* First, I did not have the drawing S305,S306. Refer to Addendum No. 4.* Second, in ADD2 S200.1, I can not find section 5,6,7,8/S304. Refer to Addendum No. 4.

*Also, I cannot find the reinforcing in Pier 33 shown S100.2 ADD2 or the thickened slab detail 9/S501.

Refer to Addendum No. 5 for revisions to S-300 and S-501 which include the details for P33 and 9/S-501.
